I need some help, I dont know what to do I've tried everything. I know my speeds are garbage but even with my garbage speedtest speeds, I should be able to download faster than what I'm getting right now. What can I do, I tried vuze and Utorrent, and both seem to be moving slow. I just got switched over to another DSL company, is there a possibility they could be restricting my torrents without restricting my browsing??

I know this probably sounds dumb but I have tried everything to get better speeds and now end up with pathetic speeds like this. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Are you using a router?
It could be that you did not forward your port.
    portforward.com/

It could also be true that your isp is limiting the downloads on torrents.
you might want to go to your torrent client options and enable outgoing protocol encryption.

Hello mate, even though I am not that big of help in this issue.. but as I can see u have 5 seeds.. It is very much possible that they have limit there uploads to this particular torrent..

Another thing is you are member of demenoid.. seeders there use cap to seed.. which in turns again means slow speed for you..

It is simple rule in terms of p2p dowloading..

More Seeder:Leecher = High download Slow upload
Less seeder:leecher = low download, high upload

P.S.: Yes it is possible for your ISP to restrict you if they find you as a bandwidth hogger.. but very few ISP really do that.. depending upon your country...

I would suggest trying to things.. 1. Try a direct download from website (not rapidshare which also restricts download speed, something like softpedia), it will give you a rough idea of what your download should be.. don't completely rely on speedtests..

    2. Use a dedicate tracker (private) and find a torrent with more seeders and few leechers.. download a partof the files and you will knw if it just this tracker or torrent or your complete internet..

    3. Try to be connect-able(you can find the guide of port-forwarding) and also see if your firewall is blocking you..

Check the port forwarding as already suggested.

You don't have to guess about ISP throttling.

Glasnost: Test if your ISP is shaping your traffic

That test will tell you if you are being throttled. ISPs all over the world do this, it's very common. Particularly in Europe and the UK, but it's all over the world.

If you are not being throttled we'll get into your OS and your uTorrent setup.

Also, limit your upload speed to approximately 80% of your total upload. Using up all your upload will make your browsing/downloading slower. The problem with your situation is most probably with the seeders as stated by ac8409.

I'm also having the same problem. I have tried Port Forwarding it doesn't make much difference, are there more tweaks that would increase the speed?

Hey buddy, your settings may be wrong. Visit azurus wiki or use u torrent config settings menu.

Looks like your ISP is shaping your traffic.

Also you can try to disable Bandwidth management [uTP] in your uTorrent.

Don't forget to check your firewall settings aswell.

ISP bandwith shaping seems to be more common these days; that could be it.

Turn on "Protocol Encryption" setting in uTorrent

If your upload speed is slow, your download speed can be affected so make sure your Port forwarding is set.

And of course, if there aren't many seeders or lots of seeders at low bandwith, you may be stuck with slow speed.

Check the duplexing on your network card. Without getting to technical, if its set to half duplex it can only upload or download at one time. Go to device manager->find your network card->right click->Properties->advanced tab->link speed & duplex. Make sure it is either set to auto or full-duplex.

other than that, if you recently changed ISP's, they may have some traffic shaping apparatus on their network, and as Allanon said you should turn on protocol encryption. However successfully using this is dependent on if the tracker that your using supports it and if your peers are also using it.

    Hope this helps
