Yeap follow what Staffrodore and Lionel said about cross seeding, as it will be extremely helpful to you.

My main advice and how i usually get good speeds is to jump on the newest torrents that appear, this means checking every like 3 minutes on TL for like 2 hours. You will pick up some great torrents and they will seed quick. Get the latest xvids and games, they seed well. Also if you see any new torrents by encode groups such as Vision, Flawless, etc make sure to grab it as their torrents always get alot of snatches and im talking like thousands and if you are among the first to grab it then your on your way to bufferotopia.

TL never do freeleech.. I have been member with them for long time.. I remember when I started, I had a bad warning as well for low ratio.. all because I was on a slow connection.. To get ride of that I used 2 machines to upload at same time 24X7... Now I am at a handful ratio on it.. Still can't reach the 2x with my connection because apparently people can download faster than me.. :P

What works really well for me is downloading HD or DVD and keeping it up for like life long.. I won't suggest you that just now.. try cross seeding for now and partial seeding once you get out of that warning.. don't download anything before that warning is gone.. download from other websites is best bid for you now.. get packs from other websites as some offer them freeleech if you find any.. there will always be someone who wants to download a pack ;) only keep in mind that pack you download have same files as on TL not extracted.. :P

Edit: btw if you ain't able to get out the warning, they sometimes do offer a mercy chance if you reach there help channel on irc.. but it will totally depend on how far behind you are on you ratio and who is in front of you.. but try your hard to get it right..

I also had some troubles during my first week at TL. I downloaded a huge language pack that I thought was gonna be easy to seed cause it appeared to get the interest of many leechers. But it turned out that were just false positives, as explained by Epxion. So what I did then is download a few recent and popular movies and put the torrents on both my seedbox and my home pc, and that did the trick for me. (Mind you though, rules are you can only download a torrent once from TL, but you can just download them from your seedbox and then seed the files from your home pc as well) I agree, it's very hard to seed in the beginning, because you have a very limited number of slots. But now I've got an unlimited number, so it's much easier. The higher your ratio, the more slots you get. I got an unlimited number as soon as I had my ratio up to 1.

I hear you, usually if its TL related I just jump on their IRC, its real responsive. Its still a great tracker, and memberships there are valued.

Hey, some Packs are a really good deal, if you are planning on maintaining the seedbox for some time, try dling one when you have ratio to do it. I snatched one 2 months ago and my ratio in it is almost 13.1, with 350GB uploaded on a single pack and it was some months old when i dled it.
But yes, the best thing to dl is ViSION, FLAWL3SS and Prism encodes.
For long term seeding popular games and HD movies by famous groups will aways have some leechers.
TV episodes from famous series like True Blood are good to dl in the second they come out, you will have an easy 10:1 ratio in one day, but they will get overseeded quickly and you will have troubles with them if you arrive too late.

I can suggest to you avoid packs because those leechers are actually partial seeders and do alot of crosseeding. If you want crosseed remember that those files must have 100% match, if not you will FAIL.
With this tactic, in 2 or 3 days I got rid of wait time easily.
In overall, TL is a easy-to-seed tracker.

other than what has been suggested already which like cross seeding is your best friend and when you get your ratio buffed back to 1:1 try to grab the newer torrents that has alot of leechers(could be like 5-10 whatever) and a few seeders( like it just got upped) and thats been completed only a few times( but zero completed is better ) that way your in swarm early and will be seeding back crazy

try out the non scene section all the re encode torrents like vision,imagine or who ever those are usually the ones everyone snatches and usually get shared really good
