So I stream movies from my computer to my ps3 but sometimes it will stutter when I am doing 1080p videos. I am using ps3mediaserver is there a better software out there?
I am using a linksys wrt-310n router, my ps3 is wired and my computer is wireless.
i think your problem is not the software used to stream, but the connection you are streaming over. have you tried using a wired computer connection to see where your problem lies? are you entirely sure it is a software issue?
The problem could also be that the ps3mediaserver has to transcode the video, and at 1080p it could be struggling. Try connecting the pc via ethernet directly to the router to test it, if the problem persists then its most probably with the transcoding.
If your display is not 1080p, then better use 720p videos instead.
This is probably the issue. I would get choppy video sometimes streaming regular quality videos on a good connection, wired and everything. Between the transcoding and streaming there's a decent lag time. I wish the ps3 supported NTFS, would make watching movies on it a lot easier. Maybe try downloading the movie on the PS3 through HTTP or something. It would take a while but you wouldn't get any choppyness.Originally Posted by Sigma9
