FTP solution is the easiest way around this. ISP throttling torrent traffic is annoying. Sometimes running on really odd ports lets you get in behind their blinders for a bit. But if you have the option to FTP it instead then do that. Use a program like 3d-ftp or CuteFtp and use multi-thread to run 8-12 threads at a time.

My home net connection is 15mb as well and i run 10 connections to saturate it.

What impulser posted is indeed the best way. Too many ISPs are traffic shaping now. Throttling torrent ports are definitely a PITA. In any case, setting your ftp client to use multi-thread is a good idea and all, but if you're able to get your seedbox provider to place your profile on high-priority, that's even better. I, too, have a 15 Mbps residential line and ever since I've requested high-priority traffic, it has been maxing out my connection.

It depends on the method the ISP uses. There are several ways.

Turning on encryption in Utorrent sometimes helps, again it depends on the method the ISP is using. Options>Preferences>BitTorrent and set 'outgoing encryption' to 'enabled' with the drop down menu.

Also, unless you have a port forward situation where you need to use a fixed port. Randomize your port in Utorrent, even do it manually often in Options>Preferences>Connection and hit the 'Random Port' button and then click 'Apply'. Also set Utorrent to randomize the port at each startup with a check in that radio button and hit 'Apply'. Sometimes it's just that easy.

Either of those might help significantly depending on the approach the ISP is using to throttle bittorrent traffic.

FTP is better as the others have said. That's part of the reason for usenet blowing back up again after all these years.

Now all this is assuming you don't have an issue on your system, if you are positive you don't then fine. If your TCP/IP and sockets management is corrupting on your OS things can go wrong and they show up first in bittorrent. Any version of Windows self corrupts over time and with use. But assuming you are technical enough to have all that covered, maybe some of the stuff above might help.

Thanks guys for your responses to my question I ran a glasnost test that i found and it showed isp throttling :( also tried the encryption on uttorent and everything to no avail. I am in a port forward issue so i need to forward the port my uttorent runs on. So sounds like a seedbox and ftp which i guess doesn't bother me that much been meaning to get one again, So time to start looking at seedbox prices and dedicated server prices. Thanks again for all the help people where their is a will there is a way and i am never going to stop my torrenting.

I recently had this problem a few days ago because of my ISP implementing new policies when it comes to P2P sharing. Well, just like others said, FTP and through a seedbox is a good way of getting around it. Protocol encryption works most of the times but may fail too. But seedbox was not an option for me, but was able to get around the ISP throttling.

I don't if you have tried this but try using HTTPS trackers with your torrents. Most trackers have this option. This is what I am doing for now and somehow is successful.

How do you tell which trackers let you use HTTPS and how would i enable this option? I believe im having the same problem and would like to try this method out.

You can either ask in the tracker's IRC or check in your profile page if you can enable the HTTPS tracker. :001_smile:
