Thread: Problems When Updating Trackers in uTorrent

hi guys,

just recently, i have been experiencing a strange problem with my torrents. Everytime the torrent updates the tracker, I lose my internet connection. I'm using uTorrent 2.0 and everytime a torrent updates, the arrows turns red one by one. Moreover, no browsing, no chatting, no everything except for one. The torrents that I am leeching are still downloading at it's max allowable speed. I really can't understand what the problem is.

So far, the only solution to get everything to normal is to reset the modem/router then manually update the torrents.

This has actually happened to me and for the life of me I can't remember what it was.

Couple of things. From the sounds of it (and what I remember), it's likely a router issue.

1) Have you tried connecting directly to the modem (i.e. disconnect from the router). If this works then it is definitely the router! The question is why? I'll think somemore on it if it is.

2) Check the port in use for the torrent program you use and see if it's being used by another program. This could cause things to go hinky.

I have tried this but the disconnection still occurs whether it's directly connected to the modem or to the router. BTW, I'm connected through an ethernet cable not through wireless connection.

I'm really not sure how to check this but as far as I know uTorrent is the only software on my computer that uses that certain port.

does that happen with all versions of uTorrent? try install some older version [1.8.5] and see do you have same problem with it too?

I recommend you to try switching the port, and see if there's still any mambo jambo going on. And remember to forward the new port. :)

Thanks guys for reading my problem. Well after further research, I just found out that I am losing internet because I am seeding lots of torrents making connections beyond what my router could take. The solution was to decrease the number of active torrents.

Yes decreasing the upload is a good idea. If your downloading and upload max all the time, your download will decrease drastically! So in utorrent they have best preferences. This is max download, and 80% upload. Doing this will give you the best performance.

Sometime when my download speed is maximum or utorrent just started my modem is reseting i have to unplung and connect back to work
