    Hi,

Does anyone know of a command line/console torrent creation utility that will allow me to preserve the file order? Or how I can preserve it using one of the following tools?

    Have tried:
    createtorrent
    mktorrent
    buildtorrent

All three of these did not preserve the file order and their help output and man pages do not indicate a switch I can use to preserve it. Unless the switch is hidden in some way.

    Thanks.

utorrent has a create torrent functionality.
When creating the torrent, check the box
that says preserve file order before you continue
    to prepare the torrent.

Also, make sure that you are correctly seeing the file order in your file browser. Maybe they are already in the correct order and you are "viewing by date" or something like that.

    Hi all,

Giving Bittornado a shot now. Wine and uTorrent can be the fall back I guess. I don't have any X system installed and was trying to avoid having to install one.

It's not about the view order, I know that can be adjusted as you please, it is definatly an issue at create time. The order the files appear in the torrent file. The hash range for a given file.

My VPS doesn't have any X server either, but I can still run uTorrent via wine within a VNC. I recommend fluxbox for the desktop manager, since it uses next to no resources.
