    Default Downloading Problems

    Hi guys.
I recently moved in the hostel of my university. I found out that they don't allow torrenting here. No client works on private or public ones. can anyone help?

Unfortunately most universities do not allow torrenting and are very strict about their policies (you could get kicked out if caught.)

I do not suggest you try to find a way around this problem, seeing as you are probably not aware of the counter measures your specific university has for detecting those who torrent.

Sorry that I couldn't be much help, but I've seen a few of my friends get kicked out for this specific reason, just trying to pass on some knowledge from first hand (or second hand) experience.

It would be easier and safer to use a seed box, this way your not seeding from your own pc and using up the schools bandwidth, and this way you can just use the webui.

oh m8 in college's normally they ban the port used for torrenting...I think the best option for you is to use FTP sites..there are many free FTp sites out there just google them....

or you can use a seedbox and then use FTP to download stuff to your PC.. :)

    DJ,
Look in the seed box review section
Seedbox Reviews - Torrent Invites! Get your free private torrent tracker invites !

Find one that meets your needs and your budget, I personally use Seedplace.eu and haven't had any problems with them, but there are lots of good ones out there.

thanks for all the help guys. but isn't there any way to bypass the network firewall?
and also, how do seedboxes work? are they other computers or something?

I have the exact same problem at my University. They usually block the torrent port, so i don't think you can do much to start downloading from this port... But i'm not an expert on computing!
My first advice to you is that you make sure you'll not have problems with them for trying to bypass this block.
If it is safe, then you can try this download manager that usually is able to bypass this problem because it uses other port. It has a version in Chinese and in English too - xunlei/thunder. It worked for me.
Use it at your own risk ;)
