Default How to start on the right foot?

I just got repped in, and I am completely new to the community. There are quite a lot of things to keep in mind when posting here, so I want to ask the more experienced users here the question: How would you go about becoming a reputable member of T-I, if you were just starting out?

    Thanks.

we all were once where you find yourself now... read carefully the rules and make sure you won't break any... when it comes to reputation, try as much as you can helping T-I community and so, its members ... tutorials, breaking news, tracker reviews, be there in the help section when and if needed with useful posts, bring in new suggestions, give away invites/ bonus/ seedbox... and keep in mind that all you do will affect this community, so it's up to you if it's gonna be good or bad...:D be an active member and don't forget above all, to have fun here...

The quickest and easiest pointer would be to not post pointless or short posts. If you post, try to contribute something or add to the discussion. Short posts that contain one line or a quick opinion (no reasoning/evidence) are annoying and regarded as spam. Multiple of such spam posts could get you put onto the Chopping Block and may result in a temporary ban.

The same also applies to threads, so don't spam! :)

To become a reputable person in T-I you just have to be active in he forum.a few suggestions are
1.Post only when you want to say something.do not spam i.e do not post short 2-3 word answers or meaningless answers....If you do so you ll get an infarction and if you do so in multiple posts you ll get a ban for 1-2 weeks. The number of posts doesnt matter. It is the content of post that matters.
2.Try to help other people in the help section. This is one good place to get reputation in the forum.Be active in the suggestions section and open trackers section to get good reputation among members
3.Another good way to report any cheaters or traders to the mods if you find one
4.Giving invites is not a prerequisite in gaining reputation in the forum. But giving invites definitely improves your chances of getting an invite when you request for one
5.Try to fill invite requests. You ll gain reputation much faster there.
6.Try to join the IRC and be active

7.There are monthly contests for THE EXALTED.If you are lucky enough you can become EXALTED soon..
8.Last but not the least be patient...You ll be rewarded definitely...
    Best of luck....

    It takes time......
The best thing you can do is be active. Like the others have said post your views, suggestions, etc in the various discussions on the forum, but try to take into consideration other peoples views, experiences. Help where you can whether it be through general knowledge or through giving invites or better still both. Familiarise yourself with the rules in each section, you would be surprised at how many people get caught out by them. Get to know people through irc and the chatbox, but the best advice I think I can offer is be yourself, and take your time, don't rush get access to everything.

"All things come to those who wait" - respect and trust is earnt, it takes time and effort and in return you get a good reputation :)

Seriously - just use your brain when you post. Don't spam post. I can't even keep track of all the people that come in here and immediately find the easiest thread possible to start adding one or two word answers to just to get post count.

People like that almost always end up banned for one reason or another.

The fact that you came here and right away you asked how to be valuable, that's a good sign. I'm sure you'll do just fine, and welcome to T-I!

Need help? PM me and I'll find you the answer.

I would say that giving bonus, karma and credits from sites are really appreciated to members with slow connections that need a boost on sites that allow transfer. Also filling requests will earn you rep.

So most of this has already been said, but the three things I consider most important are

    a) reading the rules carefully before posting: Whether it's the forum rules for posting in a certain forum or the rules that a thread-starter defines for posting in a certain thread.

    b) don't spam in serious threads! At first you need 50 and then 100 posts to enter/post in certain give-away forums. There's so-called forum games which you can participate in, increasing your post-count in order to reach that limit. Aside from the games there's all sorts of serious threads. Posting a few long and meaningful messages will earn you alot more respect than lots of pointless one-liners.

    c) Join and participate in IRC. Easiest way to get to know people and it can be alotta fun fooling about or even discussing a topic semi-seriously ;)

Those are the three pointers I'd like to emphasize :)

Wow! I didn't expect so much support right away; it seems like this site is indeed a helpful community of people. With all of your insightful posts I think you set up a very good example to follow.

If I can summarize, obviously one has to be a good contributor: create value for other members with well-thought posts, helpful information, invites, bonuses, etc.

Here more than on any other site--and I have been a user on many torrent sites for years--I see how everyone emphasizes on the importance of not being a leech. Whether they put it into words directly or not, the majority of users on T-I simply don't tolerate people without a giving mentality. I also like the fact that this community appreciates and encourages honesty and patience--I guess these might be the most important characteristics of a reputable member.

I read a few very practical suggestions like no meaningless 1-line posts, helping fill requests, joining the IRC, participating in contests. I have lots of reading to do, so I will get on with it.

--- i think that through my colleagues posts here you have a great start on things you ( have to ) need to do in order to get " appreciated " around here, and i say that the rest it's up to you to discover it... Join us in the IRC channel... and you'll find there even more, in time... like you've said, it takes honesty and patience...take care...:D
