Default Why is my upload rate so low?

Usually on public trackers it's not that bad but when I'm download things from Demonoid my upload rate is either at 0 kb/s or <50 kb/s. I have no clue why though but its definitely killing my ratio. Can anyone help me out?

First thing I would do is check to see whether the port your torrent client uses is open on your router's firewall-if it is not open you will not be connectable and hence will not be able to upload properly. An alternative to setting specific ports to be open is just to turn on the "DMZ" setting of your router, which basically disables your router firewall (this is what I do because router firewalls annoy me, but keep in mind this essentially compromises your security).

If that doesn't help, try playing around with the encryption settings of your torrent client-sometimes if your ISP throttles torrent traffic using encryption can help.

Of course you should also make sure your torrent client is allowed properly in whatever firewall software you may be using as well.

Well m8..if you start from basic then the upload speed depend on number of leech seeders as in private trackers everyone try's there best to seed unlike public it became little tough to seed....So before garbing a torrent check the number of seeders leeches in your torrent..
always grab the new torrent...demonoid is just hell easy to seed...try joining some tracker from open signup and then see the upload download you are getting....

if this all is all right then see the port forwarding and other utorrent tweaks which are given almost at all the places....

Hmm.. I recently moved to a new apartment (college apartment) and we're all required to use the internet provided by them. This isn't the university's dorm/apartment, its just a college apartment near my campus if you know what I mean. Anyways my port is closed and I think I've port forward everything properlly.

    Example.

I used 192.168.1.3 as my IP Address.
    Port Fowarded 49152 - 65534

I didn't know which IP was right, so I also port forwarded the IP address I got from this website.
    Current IP Check

Am I doing anything wrong? Thanks!

My ports act wierd. I use port 56645 because it's the one that works most often, but not always. A few hours, every couple of days, it will show that I am not connectable, having changed nothing. Then, later that day, I will be connectable, again, having changed nothing.

Unfortunately for me (unless I want to buy a new one) my ISP has set a different password on my router than the default one, so I am unable to open/close/whatever on it.

    Any thoughts?

U need to forward the port to the LAN IP address of the computer in the network and not the WAN. If u use the WAN it will not work as this will not direct the traffic to the specific computer. So basically the "192" address is the correct IP to forward to.

Also, i have a few questions for u..... First, since u live in an apartment complex sharing an internet connection, how did u have access/authorization to the router? Next, where did u forward or how did u forward your ports?

Finally, u can open a range of ports like u did, but its a security risk and your leaving an open hole to your computer. I suggest using 1 ot 2 ports only and closing the rest.

They apartment gives us a ethernet outlet and I hooked up my router to that ethernet port. So I port forward the router thats hooked up to my ethernet port. Should I do it another way?

No, thats correct and u did it right. I thought u meant the router was in a different building and u accessed it like that. I was thinking of a setup at a complex where the apartment staff only had access to the router and all. Anyway, u did it correct. Is your port showing it is forwarded or no? Also how many computers do u have connected to the router?

nope it still says that my port is closed. Sigh, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Oh and I only have this computer connected to it. Thanks for all the help again, I know this is out of your way.

Ok, lets start all over from the beginning and ill walk u through it. Its not taking up my time and i dont mind helping u as this is what im here for.

First, lets log into your router. Since your LAN IP is 192.168.1.3, then your router's IP has to be 192.168.1.1. So, open up your web-browser and type your "router's IP" in the address bar and press enter. Proceed to login to the router with your username and password. If u dont know what the default password is then tell me what type of router u have and ill tell u as i have them all memorized just about.

Second, now that your logged into the router look for the option or tab for "port forwarding". If u cant find it post a screen shot and ill help u.

Next, once u find the port forward option then type in the info to forward your port. Use the "192" IP as the address and only forward 1 port and not a range. Finally, put that port into transmision or whatever client that is and restart it. That should be good and the port should be properly forwarded. If u have any problems with anything then please post and ill help u.

EDIT > U know what? Now that im thinking about this, there has to be another router or switch box where the actual modem is located. The reason why i say this is because they are spliting the connection and are probably doing so using another router somewhere in the building and this is why u are having issues. I may be wrong, but for some reason i have a feeling they are.
