So shouldn't the rules of 'Give Invites' be changed? iGiver serve a purpose to record and track the records of invitations given, so every post in Give Invite section now have the phrase that states 'You must give iGiver'. I remember reading the rules which state that you are not allowed to ask for iGiver.

This is straight from a PM chastising me for neg repping a post that IMO was detrimental to the forum but didn't fall into one of the following categories.

Neg reps are only to be issued for extreme offenses like:
* blatantly disregarding the rules
* to an extremely offensive post
* to someone who spams around continuously (do not go neg-rep happy!)
* to someone who insults or flames
* to repeat offenders

You neg repped a rules thread, thedeh. I think it's obvious you don't do that. Punishing the staff by giving negative reputation because you don't like the rules is out of line. In fact, rep should not be given for rules threads at all: neither positive nor negative. There's no rule that states you may not give it positive rep, but I am working on changing that.

Please show me where it states you may not ask for iGiver. The rules don't state that anywhere, to my knowledge. The only rule is that you may not ask for rep.

Lmao Jenna, I wasn't talking about that... this was months ago. And for the record I "Groaned" a rules thread and you punished me with a 2 point permanent infraction for rep abuse... hardly the same thing IMO.

Reputation is affected, how is it not the same thing?

I'm not arguing this at all - just adding an addendum so nobody else makes my mistake. The one exception to this is you *may not* ask for iGiver for giving away a Demonoid invite. (That rule is already stated - but in case someone reads JJ's post and doesn't read the rules, this might stop you from an infraction)

I don't see how taking 1 point compared with 23 should invoke the same punishment. Plus in the initial T-I v2 post, it said Groan's were for posts we dislike. I disliked the post and groaned when I read it so I clicked the "Groan" button. Jenna later told me that we aren't supposed to Groan something we dislike... even though that's what it says in the announcment but are only supposed to groan posts that break the rules... that was news to me. Why should I be punished for something that wasn't clarified in the rules? Anyway, this is getting wildly off-topic and I never meant for this conversation to occur so why don't we just drop it?

It was clarified in the rules, if you'd read them. The rules on neg rep clearly state how groans should be used. Reviewing the rules on a regular basis, especially when major site revisions are happening, is a good idea for everyone.

I think it would be great if we all doesn't need to reach the point to groan or even negative rep someone.If one person does a big mistake then a mod will deal with him.
