Thanks to the generous invite from hi-jack, I became a member of SCC today. I was under the impression that SCC shouldn't be very difficult to seed, at least not as difficult as BitMeTV. Man, I was wrong.

I am using a dedicated box 1.2GHz, 1GB DDR2, and 100Mbps line. I know it's a crappy dedi, but at least I can hit 12Mb/s at anytime. The problem is: it's DL + UL = 12Mb/s. Which means during the period when I was leeching at full speed, my seeding speed is near zero. (This is my first dedicated box, are all 100Mbps dedicated boxes like this?)

Anyway, I tried this box on SCC, and downloaded a couple of torrents for about 2G. My ratio is 0.24 right now. I only downloaded one file at the time, and only hopped on the newest torrents (released within 2 mins). I used the same box on BitMeTV, and maintained a 2.5 ratio without too much effort.

I just want to ask for advices to survive on SCC. Do I have to switch to giga box or much better 100Mbps box to be even able to maintain a 1.00 ratio? I would really appreciate any input and advices. Thank you for your time.

@matty, well m8, to be honest when I started at SCC the first thing I did was create a buffer by downloading some of their freeleech packs that you can find on their Archive, that is what I would recommend you to do first, keep in mind that almost everyone at SCC uses a seedbox and to make it more interesting by the time a torrent is alive for 2 minutes there will be mostly seeders already and almost no leechers since they use RSS.

So the best advice I can give you right now is to download some of their freelech files to recover your ratio to 1:1 again, and then make some buffer, that way you can download what you really want without having to worry about the amount you upload, which won't be that much from new files, unless you use the scripts as almost everyone there do.

SCC archive and mp3/0day sections are freeleech but upload still counts I believe, so take advantage of that :D

I also advise if you go that route to look into a good autodownloader, rather it be through RSS or IRC so you can get the first jump on new torrents!

I can't use rss on my seedbox so what I do when I need a bit of a buffer at scc is:
I use firefox and use the plugin checkforchange to let me know when there's a new torrent in the archive, when one pops up I stick it on the seedbox like real fast. works every time

Why can't you use RSS on your seedbox? Do you not have root access? Cause even if you don't there is a way... if you are interested I can help you out, need to know more about your circumstances though.

That way you can build ratio even when you aren't at your computer, you'll be max rank in now time!

Thank you so much guys, I appreciate all the inputs. Had I known their archive is all freeleech, man, I would do nothing but jump onto those archive.

Yes teh_pwn, I had the problem to add RSS feed to my seedboxes as well. My dedicated box is still using utorrent 1.8.5, which I believe doesn't even support RSS back then. My shared boxes do support RSS feed, but when I try to add one feed, the ruTorrent takes forever to respond and just refuses to add one for me. I will try it again later.

Eh, I'm not too big on the utorrent and rutorrent built in rss functions. I use a standalone program called flexget which downloads to your clients watch folder, is uber customizable, and can run even without root access.

I'll make a guide later if people are interested.

Well m8 why not to limit your download speed at 6 mbps after the torrent is 30% that way you can upload at 6 from that moment and i wonder if you know that if you are leeching you have more chances of seeding or seeding speed is more when you leech,......

<3 to all My friends here and thx to all who helped me..

matty You must be quick and downland only fresh torrents from category mp3/0day. There are freeleech. The best way is to download only part of these files. For example I download only first few files from this torrent not bigger then 100 Mb and I'm partially seeder and I get the biggest upload speed. So it's not so hard :) Otherwise you can try with autodownload scripts, but If you have low ratio, you should download only from mp3/0day category, beacuse all files there are freeleech. I hope, I helped you :)
PS: I have upload speed 0,25 Mb/s and no problems with ratio on SCC, so you should really try this way with your seedbox :D

All great suggestions guys, thank you! I am doing those freeleech right now, and will limit my download speed. I haven't downloaded to much though, it shouldn't take too long to get my ratio fixed.

teh_pwn: yes, I have heard of flexget from a friend, but don't really know how it works. I am sure people here would love to get a little write up for how to use it. Your work will be greatly appreciated!
