As Droid mentioned, you could use a simple text document, or:

    - clipperz.com a great online service for storing your passwords, there very trustworthy, but if you dont trust them you can use keepass which is a great simple utility for storing passwords on your computer, you simply input all you passwords into a database, and have one masterkey that you remember, that unlocks all the rest of your passswords.

    - if you rather, you can use the Firefox plugin password hasher, which will generate very hard to crack passwords, for various sites, automatically fill them in.. and more..

    KeePass Password Safe
    Clipperz - online password manager

I just use Excel for all my passwords, and then you can require a password on the excel file to open it, this way I just have to remember 1 password to get to all my other passwords.

If you are looking for a desktop based application, I would recommend Keepass or KeePassX. If you prefer an online one (to access your passwords from different computers, for example), I would head to LastPass, which has great additionnal features (form filling, password generator...).

I do exactly what Anon123 have stated in his post. By far, a simple algorithm is the easiest way to create strong, secure passwords for your trackers. I don't think it's a good idea to save your passwords anywhere on your PC, phone, or the internet. People like to create simple .txt and store them in their emails. Not the best way to safe-keep your passwords. Your mind is probably the best place to store any information. Just find an algorithm you're comfortable with and you're set.

I would use some random letters at the beginning of each password, followed by the tracker's acronym, and a number. It's also good to throw in a special character and an upper-case letter.

For SCC - perphaps something like @Bcdscc3
For TL - perhaps something like @Bcdtl2

So random and easy to remember, but complicated and secure at the same time. I also like the fact that I won't have to open up any utilities or look up any files just to retrieve a simple password.

There is a plugin for most mainstream browsers called LastPass. It is encrypted at the client end so they cannot gain access to your passwords and it also means that you can access these wherever you are in the world by just going to their website.

I was a bit wary of it at first, but I have been using it for over a year with no problems as have 100,000's of people.

But you will never know. If database gets hacked, you will risk everything that you depend on it. At the very least if you keep it on your computer with programs like KeePass, it will be much more difficult because most people would have antivirus with them.

I have my own set algorithm and a few other default passwords of my own. I use my algorithm on websites I really like, but I forget sooner or later which websites I used it on.

So not only do I depend on Chrome to log me in automatically, I also write down most of my username/passwords on my email account, which uses the algorithm and I feel that the password is very secure.
