    Being this my first post on this website, I'd like to say hi to everyone and renew my thankfulness for having been accepted as part of this "brotherhood".

    I'd like to ask if, a torrent that has been fully downloaded and is hence seeding, can be removed from the seeding list in our client and then be recreated through the files that we still have and put once again to seed. If it's possible, how is it done?

    Thank you.

    Hi Leonardo,
    Welcome to TI.
    You can do that with at least uTorrent, but i'm pretty sure others clients have such tools/options.
    - desactivate the option which start automatically any new added torrent;
    - add your torrent;
    - use the contextual menu to change the download location, set it to the files already downloaded;
    - force the checking of the torrent (that will take time depending of the files size);
    - when the check is finished, start the torrent.

    That's all...

    Thank you for the fast reply. I will try to do as you said when I can get to a PC that has uTorrent. Currently I use Vuze. Is there anyone who knows how to achieve what I said with this software?
    Furthermore, do I need the original torrent file besides the actual files that I downloaded or not?

    Thanks once again.

    I am sorry to spam to bring the thread back up, but I need to know how to put some files that I downloaded from another PC back on the torrent network (or when I remove them from the torrent client)

    Thank you.

    it's pretty easy with uTorrent. When you remove it, and the original files are still there, just DL the torrent file and it will look for the files and eventually go back to 100% and seed

    What if I moved them into another folder? Is there any way to tell the software to look there rather download the files again?

    Any soultions for Vuze?

    Thanks

    You can set the download location to the folder you moved them to. So if you moved them from let's say for example C:\Downloads to D:\movies just point uTorrent to D:\movies and it should start the checking process. When you load/reload a new torrent uTorrent asks you to set a download location and you should change the default one(in our example C:\Downloads) with the one where your files are stored(D:\movies).

    As for Vuze I never used it, but I guess the same principle applies.

    Well, when I try reopening the same torrent with Vuze it just doesn't do anything... It says that the "material" has been added but nothing happens.

    Thanks anyway, you've been very helpful for uTorrent.
