    Default installing windows 7 ultimate from usb?

    as i dont have a dvd drive, so is there any way of installing windows 7 from usb? or some other way without optical drive? thanks

    Never tried it myself but you can try out this guide:

    I was able to use this to install for two computers and it worked great. This has to be the easiest install of window on usb that I have found

    I used this tool from Microsoft. It makes creating a bootable USB device for Windows 7 installations a breeze!

    This tool also works well, but it only works with flash drives, it doesn't recognize usb hard drives. The setup i use is a Western Digital 250GB passport drive, first 5 gigs is where the Win 7 install files are located, and the rest is for storage. This tool would not detect the hdd, or any other usb hdd's that i tried. But as i said, it will work with usb flash drives.

    You just have to temporarily set the USB hard drive as a removable storage device for the tool to work, otherwise windows thinks that it is a hdd.
