Default Computer freeze with utorrent and router

    Hey T-I

I have recently changed to a new router (it is a THOMSON speedtouch ST585v6sl). It now appears that whenever I am downloading using utorrent my computer will eventually freeze and the only way to get from this freeze is with a restart.

I really really need help with this.

    Thanks :)

    Hey, Goo Ball.

    #1 change Router to Linksys BEFSR41 v4.2
    #2 do not use router

    P.S.

I was using router and it was no problem at all
but for now I have just one main pc. And secondary one connected to my spare cable or over WiMax
Time to time I am fixing PCs so i hook them up over customers connection.

So, first thing what i would do if to get another router.

    @Goo Ball,

If you dont make it in any way, I would say a system reinstall would work,
this is my opinion, but I don't want to make you to reinstall and after still not working.

    good luck.

I thought about that, however my old router was working fine, the reason ive swapped is due to the old router being too old.

Could there be some setting in utorrent doing this to my router? Or could I possible have overlooked some setting in the router?

    UPDATE

Further testing seems to show that the comp freezes whenever anything seems to be downloaded with at fairly high speed (not just when using bittorrent).

I have 2 other systems on the network, one is a desktop connected by wire and the other is a laptop connected wirelessly. Both of these seem to be downloading fine. So it does seem to just be the one comp.

One more point is that the comp that freezes doesnt have built in wireless, it uses a usb wireless adapter. Could this be the problem?

    NEW UPDATE

Think I've sorted it, I took the wireless USB adapter out and gave it a blow..........

    I hate dust :D

    NEW NEW UPDATE

So I turned utorrent on and fail. So I tested utorrent on the wired machine and worked fine, so I've upgraded the utorrent on this pc and its working great......................for now

    be back in 10 minutes

hi! Have you checked your router to make sure all ports are forwarded accordinly? or there's no firewall in place? Configure your utorrent correctly as well, I think you probably have everything by default.

might want to get the latest firmware for the router as well.

the newer version of utorrent may also help. :)

Hi Goo Ball, if your problem isn't solved then try disabling receiver side scaling of your network adapter. For some adapters the option can be found by goin to device manager->network adapters->your adapter properties->Advanced tab->receiver side scaling
    OR
execute the command "netsh interface tcp set global rss=disabled" in your command prompt for disabling receiver side scaling globally.Hope this helps:)

hey everyone. I managed to ACTUALLY stop the crashing, I updated the drivers for my usb network adapter and now it doesnt crash.

HOWEVER, it doesnt maintain a good connection speed, I have to disable my network and re-enable it to get the speed back, then it eventually crashes again.

    NEW NEW UPDATE

Im sure you are all pretty anxious for an update now SO Ive sorted the freezes and the slow bandwidth.

It is to do with my USB wireless adapter. Needed a driver change.

For future reference if anyone is having difficulty with download speed when using a zyxel G202 wireless adapter, use the 6.6.0.0 drivers.
