Default Windows 7 64Bit & High End Nvidia Video Cards

There is a really annoying bug regarding Windows 7 64bit and high end Nvidia video cards where the graphics driver will often crash or lag out. Apparently MS says it's an Nvidia issue and Nvidia says it's a MS issue. In any case its pretty well known, yet rarely solved. I've tried almost 30 different solutions with no luck. I was just wondering has anyone else come across this problem with their own machines? I'd be curious to know how many people thus is affecting. I'll probably have to go back to XP for gaming for the time being. I already use Ubuntu for everything else.

    Thanx

i am using windows 7 64 bit and nVidia GeForce but have not encountered any problems yet
Most common solution would be to reinstall driver but i think you would have already done that
A friend of mine tried installing vista driver for the graphic card and it seems to work
And ubuntu is anytime better than windows except for gaming

You know, I actually had this same problem on my GTX 8400. I have not yet upgraded my drivers to the latest but when I ran into the problem I installed the drivers under compatibility mode with Vista SP2 support.

    Give that a shot.

you could try lowering your core and memory clock, i have a ati hd5870 vapor-x with the same issue. lower the clock a little helped me solve my crashing issue.

Yeah Musta I've tried that amongst other things. I know its not a heat issue as the whole rig is water cooled. I also tried down clocking the CPU too, no go. But thanx for the idea.

sorry about that bud, maybe you could try turning the volts up on the gpu, or maybe you need to install your chipset drivers or something. other then that i would say try nvidia beta drivers or wait for new ones to come out. best of luck

I know Balauru was crying to me about this exact problem a few weeks ago. I have 2 GTX 260's and I haven't had any problems with them (at least not regarding your current issue) however Balauru apparently fixed it though you should pm him.
