hello all i am a bit puzzled.

recently i start helping around the introductions section and i don't know what kind of members TI is looking for.

I mean, I see a lot of introductions and it seems that a lot of people have no prior torrent private tracker experience. They say they are from public trackers and or have no ratioproofs etc etc.

Should these people be considered for this site?

My personal view is no, because there are many private trackers around there that have open sign ups and they should go try those private trackers before trying to get invites for this site. because this way we would know that they have the experience, and the know how of keeping a ratio. making it more secure for the ones that are inviting these people.

I am pretty new to this myself and i got trackers with open sign ups before even considering this site.

So if TI is a community that is open to everyone, i would like to know that so i can have that in mind when i reply to introductions.

They can always post their client statistics to verify that they are good seeders.

I understand that you have the idea of "trimming" the number of newly accepted members, but it's already being done, from what I see 1 in 5 of "decent" applications get accepted. By decent I mean someone who made a quality introduction with well edited ratio proofs etc.

If someone has done everything right in his/her introduction, I mean a perfect introduction which can be done without a single leading or after pointing out the missing sections, Its our duty to rep him/her in even though he has no membership in a private tracker. If someone knows the importance and beauty of sharing, I'm pretty much sure they can keep a good ratio just using public trackers. It just might be his/her choice not to use private trackers, we should respect that but Its not good to keep them away from here. We are a sharing community and our doors are open to everyone who will obey the rules, making contributions to this forum with his knowledge or giveaways.

We accept all types of torrenters, from the most experienced to the initiate. After all, what better place for them to learn than here?

I agree about accepting everyone who's competent and all, and I'm not even sure if I should be posting my thoughts on this since I'm so new... but while I was waiting for my post to be looked at, I browsed around the other posts to see what other people had to say in their intros.

I was amazed at how much support people that didn't read anything at all about the prerequisites, rules, etc get from people reading over their intros. while it's good to see people want to help others, it seems to me that there should be a policy of "only suggest things to help them twice." I thought it was kinda unbelievable that people trying to get repped in had 5+ replies from people saying "your proofs still arent properly edited, your password is still wrong" and those people still getting in.

doesn't that say something about what type of member they'll be? if they can't be asked to read the stickies after being reminded 4 times, why would they read them anywhere else where it's optional? not to mention, holding people's hands seems like it's a waste of time on a lost cause when their time could be spent approving potential members who took the time and have the dedication to get it right... the first time.

i agree theflasher and as soon as i got my thanks button again you will receive one from me.

and no matter how ''new'' you are, you are always entitled to your opinion as long as it goes in a fashionable manner.

this being said i would like this topic to be locked since its in the help section and i got my answer to my question no need to discuss it further.

I do not have anything against someone who has not used private trackers before, everyone starts out in the same boat.

AS long as the user is willing to learn and co operate, I am fine with them. We are community and should help seek to improve it and accepting new entrants to the torrenting world is not something we should frown upon.

    Cheers
