Default How to do an FTP transfer? (using CuteFTP Pro)

I recently purchased a seedbox from Xirvik and have been successfully downloading and uploading my torrents. The only problem is that I don't exactly know how to do an FTP transfer to get the actual files.

When I e-mailed them for help they wrote back: "When you upload a .torrent file to the seedbox it is downloaded to the seedbox, not to your PC. You need to do a FTP transfer to get the actual files."

I then asked if they could explain the process of how to actually perform an FTP file transfer and they just replied that I should check out their FTP tutorials: Xirvik Torrent

I did most of what it suggested in the tutorial but it still doesn't explain to how to do a transfer! Here's a screenshot of my CuteFTP Pro:

Could someone please give me a step by step explanation on how I could perform an FTP transfer to get the files onto my PC?

Thanks a lot for reading. I'd greatly appreciate any help or assistance you could provide.

You can drag and drop from right to left or you can select the files/folders in the right frame, right click, choose download. I think double clicking on files also transfers them.

I've been watching Curb Your Enthusiasm lately too. Pretty good show :)

OK. I only see the "Dark City" folder on the right side, though. How do I get all the other torrent files onto the right side?

On the left there's only the torrent files. When I right click on those files it gives me an "upload" or "upload advanced" option. Am I supposed to click on either of those to transfer them to the right side where the "Dark City" folder is located?

Heh. I have no idea how the "Dark City" folder made its way onto the right side. It just appeared there.

Do you want to add .torrent files to your client? Then log into your client and click add torrent and choose the torrent file on your computer.

If you want to download files from seedbox to your computer then, e.g. dark city, drag into left hand side and it will begin downloading.

    sttywilliam,

you would normally click the upload button to begin transfering those to the right side if the right side is your host. I have not used this FTP client so I cannot say for 100% sure how it works but thats the general idea.

You should grab a copy of FlashFXP it is actually quite nice and was once used heavily in the scene.

OK. Something else I need clarified. Heh.

When I transfer the files from my seedbox to my PC will the files cease to exist in the seedbox?

If not, how I do I do that? Remove the files from the seedbox after I've successfully transferred them to my PC, I mean.

After transferring they will still be on your seedbox and u need to delete them manually. Just right click the file u want to delete then choose delete. After it finishes deleting well then thats it, they are deleted.

    sttywilliam,

Not unless you actually delete the files yourself, transferring should not delete the files unless something is set in the client most clients dont do this though.

FTP clients do have the ability to manually delete files from remote servers, right click on the file and see if you have any options.

Whta FTP client are you using?

That's right transfering files to your PC will not delete the files on your server. You can use putty to see how much space you have used and see if you need to delete.

Some clients like rutorrent with a plugin will allow you to delete files from within the client.

    Thanks WaZ901,

I have not personally used CuteFTP but you ideally should be able to delete the files in the FTP on a remote server unless the remote server does not permit this.
