So, here's my question. When people ask for a proof in a giveaway, I understand why; they want to see that you don't have a shitty ratio etc...

However, what i don't know is what they want to see. I.e. do they want to see you have large quantities uploaded and downloaded? Or does it not matter. What kind of ratios do they want to see? I realize that below 1.00 is bad, but if you have like 1.2 or something, is that fine? Or are they looking for higher.

Personally, i seed torrents to about 2.00, but some don't get seeded that much, (PtP is crap for seeding) so i just make sure i stay above 1.00.

Yea, so basically, what ratios are they looking for? As well as anything else they're looking for in a proof. Are certain trackers better than others?

    Thanks

It really depends on the person or how rare the tracker is. If there giving away some shitty invite they might settle for someone with a shitty ratio. But a good ratio shows that you give more than you take. And that is always a good thing in the torrent community. Obviously higher numbers uploaded or downloaded look better, that shows that you are dedicated.

Well, I mean, what's considered a "shitty" ratio?

The basic purpose of people asking for ratio's is to see that you are a person to whom giving an invite is safe as you tend to take care of your account. If you have a ratio below 1 then anybody would be sceptical with giving you the invite.
The main thing to note is that the inviters behind is also at risk when he is giving you an invite so he has to make sure that you will take care of the invite.
Secondly what many users see is that they dont want to give their invite to a collector, some people have the habbit of getting invites to each and every tracker they can get their hand onto and then not using them altogether. So the inviter would want that his invite goes to a person who is worthy to be invited.
As far as whats the right ratio, well anything above 1 is good, but for instance there is (x1 TL) invite and 2 people have applied then if your ratio is around 1.2 on a decent tracker and he has a ratio of say 5 on the same tracker then the probability of the invite going to him increases.

Aight. And also, if I'm going to provide a proof, which are generally the best trackers to give proofs from? I.e. would bitgamer be absolutely worthless since you can get free upload credit?

Yeah, I agree with what aBysmAl posted. I'd rather give an invite to a person who is actively using a site with a ratio of 1 than to a person with a ratio of 10 but rarely uses it. For me, ratio proofs are just the first step to an invite. Basically, it's to appeal to the inviter. Profile links is where all the answers lie.

I posted late, but to answer the next question... I would provide proofs to trackers you're most actively using.

Quite def profile link tells you the complete story. As far as bitgamer is considered, you cant say its worthless but yes not alot of members will take that much into consideration. For instance i have around 12GB down and 130GB up on bitgamer and out of that 130GB (120GB is from the free credit).

So bitgamer's worth automatically goes down

But also what i think what most people look for in a tracker like bitgamer or PtP, where upload is available freely, is the amount of traffic, or data downloaded. For example, if you have 130gb up, with only a couple of gb down, that really dosent count. But if youre active and have downloaded 120gb by upping 130gb, even though most of it may be credit from here, would certainly be acceptable. This with a good speedtest might get you some nice invites.

Ratio free trackers, on the other hand are a different story. Some people might ask for proof of how long you seed, like proof from other ratio free trackers, or a screenshot of your snatchlist where seed time is shown. Basically what ratio proof you can show will depend on the tracker you are applying for, and what type of a tracker it is. Like for a High level niche movie tracker, the person might ask for a ratio proof of a low level movie tracker, just to see that you really download movies.

There are a lot of things a proof can say about a user - some of which are more positive than others, but much depends on what type of user the giver is looking to give invites to.

As we all know, the major aspect to look at is the ratio. Different ratios tell different stories. Some look like they've been buffered by bonuses, some look like they were hard work to be attained, and others are just baffling.

But other things that are of note are the amount of traffic, age of the account, whether they are an elevated class, if they got the invite from T-I or not, and the degree of difficulty of seeding at a tracker.

Now what I look for is basically the potential that the user will elevate themselves high enough in the tracker to reach Power User so that they, too, can give invites back to the community. I also look for users who will use the tracker, and barring the rare exception of people who benefit from a tracker as an uploader, that includes downloading from the tracker.

Now personally, as long as you are sproting a 1.05 ratio or above, I am happy. It basically shows me that you have good enough sense to seed back 1:1 as well as the potential for you to reach power user.

But that being said, the status of different trackers does have an effect. As aBysmAl said, if I see a 10 ratio on BitGamer with 10 GB downloaded and 100 GB, I am not generally impressed since most of the time that buffer is built by bonuses that are given away. It is hard to judge a user some times because of this - since they may be a perfectly good user, but it is hard to tell how they would do on a site that is harder to seed such as waffles or the higher 0day trackers for example.

When I see a user with a ton of upload and little to no download - I am generally suspicious - sure they have a great ratio there, but I don't see what they are getting out of the tracker, and I am unsure of what the ratios of the sites they actually download from look like.

One of the things that I really like to to see is activity on trackers that were given to the user through T-I. I personally understand that it takes some time to build up buffer and ratio on a new tracker - but the sooner progress on that tracker is displayed, the happier I am since it helps show that the user appreciates the invites they are given and treats them well.

When it comes down to it - the ratios proofs are part of a bigger picture. They help us determine the type of user we are inviting - and how they generally use the invite. But that is only part of the whole of the user - there is a ton of information available to the giver through the site. There is reputation, give history, receive history, post history, etc. While it is tough to predict the future and tell who will best utilize the invite, we are provided with almost everything that is useful in trying to determine that here at T-I.

The best advice I can give you is to use the invite you are given here, stay above a 1 ratio, try to get power user at the trackers you are a part of (and give the invites you can away here), and built up a good reputation among users here - and you most certainly will get invites to all the trackers you could possibly want.

    -Airman

And as a side note - don't cheat - it is better to build up ratio slower than it is to cheat - since you will eventually get caught and banned both here, the trackers you are cheating at, and all likely all the other trackers you are on that you aren't cheating on.

I don't really care about someone's ratio, more about the download traffic and the size of the buffer.
