well, i read this thread about the "trading question" in the intro. and i completely agree with the posters insights about it. pros get hammered and noobs get banned, but i have a question. why do people trade invites anyway when they know that it is bad and you can always ask and give invites away in a website like T-I?

regarding the thread, im in the newbie category. been on public and just started on privates 3 months ago.

Each to their own I suppose; some don't like giving away things and want something in return. Human nature.

Traders feel they have a better chance at getting into higher level sites if they trade. Its also selfishness and greed.

Its funny though. There was a huge uproar from the traders here when we banned the trading forum because they thought no one would ever just give away invites to the most elite sites. But since trading was banned, our forum has exploded - the market was flooded with GFT, SCC and even SCT. It wasn't until trading was banned that the first FTN invite ever handed out was given here, followed shortly thereafter by several more.

In the end, traders only suffer because eventually they are caught - and more and more I think they are learning that. That's why trading sites are dying and places like T-I are thriving.

Plus how would you go about regulating some thing like trading? One persons receives and doesn't return the favour, than what, a moderating headache?

^^ That's exactly what happened, a LOT of the time. The chopping block was a lot more active when trading was allowed. Since then, our forums are a lot cleaner, with far less scammers infiltrating our midst.

I do believe that is is the whole "getting something for mothing" feeling that many people get upset about & so they expect a traded invite. It doesn't really make sense to me because we are talking about trackers.....places where we all go to get stuff for free. Don't get my wrong I am very protective over my favorite sites & am always on the lookout for something that I think will get "us" as a community in trouble, but if it wasn't for free & clear invites I never would have been a part of most the sites I am on, & I suspect that most of us can say the same......It's good karma

No doubt trading invites is done in order to obtain something which otherwise you would get. It's a form selfishness and no one is ever happy.
At least in the way TI does it we get a nice community giving stand to the phrase "sharing is caring".

    You gotta be kidding
First: I want to make this crystal clear, I've never broke and will never break Ti rules, not here and not elsewhere.

"No doubt trading invites is done in order to obtain something which otherwise you would get" - This is not true. There are lot of trackers you wont get otherwise (if your sentence is true ATM, which is not, even then its an unproven sentence, it could be false in the future).

"It's a form selfishness and no one is ever happy" - Its not a form of selfishness. You know, the whole world works in this way, trading. There are/were nations, where ppl try/tried to live in a way similar to "giveaways", you get what you need free and you give stuff free to others, but these communities are failing/failed in the past.
If both parties trade what they want, both parties happy. If they then use the tracker, donate to tracker (which is clearly possible, if they wanted that tracker), then both trackers are happy.

The last sentence of yours is right.

If you mean what you wrote (except the last), then your thinking is a bit wierd but acceptable (we learnt this behaviour in psychology, just dont know the proper word in english), if you wrote that because of the rules, then you know what you are.

(ps.: my english is not proper, it could have some errors, sorry...)

You're wrong. My boyfriend and I belong to some of the most elite trackers on the Internet and neither one of us ever traded, not even once.

When T-I allowed trading most elite trackers were rarely, if ever, found here. Since trading was banned, invites to SCC and SCT have become almost commonplace. Even FTN has been handed out several times.

My friends are members at **, **-* (may it rest in peace), FSC, FTN, SCC, SCT, GFT and the like... and not one person I call friend has needed to trade. Not once. People trade because they think there is no other option - and that's why patience is key.
