There seems to be a glitch in the system that started around late last night.

Newly repped in people are showing their green rep square. They also show as Starting.

But they're unable to view most of the forums. All they can see is Introductions, Help, Announcements. This still happens after clearing cookies, browser cache, and even after logging in on another computer.

I sent this via PM to Balauru but also wanted to post it here in case there's someone else who can fix it.

Yup i tried repping someone in once today too....certainly seems to be some sort of problem.

Also i wasnt sure, but was thinking about this....does repping in someone give the new user only one rep point, or according to the rep power of the user. If it does according to the rep of the user, then obviously, someone repped in by say, flutrose would have a certain advantage over someone repped in by me(~20 rep points by flutrose means he/she will not have to get more rep for going to 55%).

I understand what your saying and i'm almost 100% thats not the case. Otherwise like you said they'd be at a disadvantage which mods and admins surely would have taken into consideration when starting this site off

Currently when you rep someone in you give them the amount of rep points you have. Historically speaking the Thanks button was used to rep in so that only 1 point would be given. But new folks who weren't supposed to be in the Intro section were using it to rep people in so it was disabled in that section.

Changing the system so that all Intro reps gave only 1 point has been discussed. Disabling the ability of 10%ers to post in the intro section has also been discussed. But at this point in time nothing concrete has been done.

Actually, that is the case. They took the thanks button away because 10% users were using it to rep people in. At the moment people with rep such as flutrose, myself, jekata and the others with more than about 4 or so rep bars just don't rep people in.

I don't do many intros but the ones I do I just advise them what needs correcting and state that its good, then leave it for a lower rep person to rep them in.

But I remember last time this was brought up they stated they wore working on a new system that was inherently difficult but a far better system that auto-moves repped threads n some other shit.... maybe they're still working on it?

Anyway, if they're not, I say just bring back the thanks button and removes 10%'s permission to view the intros forum.

Edit: flutrose beat me to it :p

This seems to me like probably the easiest solution. But they'd have to fix it so we could give unlimited Thanks in the Intro section and let the 10%ers see the Intros, just not be able to post there.

Thanks for fixing it Dave, will get the fix verified soon as we can!
