Default Help with utorrent and multiple pcs, If you can

So, here is what my network/systems look like.

1.) HTPC ; Windows 7, VMserver 2.0 - Ubuntu Linux and Windows Home Server
    2.) Toshiba Laptop windows 7
    3.) Hp laptop Win 7

    Here is my problem.

I like different things, 360 games, Music , Movies , HD content
Im wondering how (if possible) It is to use my Htpc only for utorrent and have it save certain files to certain locations.

Problem more in depth. If I download a 360 game I have to use one of the 2 laptops utorrent so that I can stealth check and burn the dual layer DVD .

If I download a movie, I need it to go to my shared videos folder on Windows Home Server

If I download Music it needs to go to my shared Music folder on Windows Home Server

If I download software It needs to go to my shared Software folder on Windows Home Server

Im wondering If I can run Multiple Instances of utorrent, or How I'm going to keep my downloads straight per tracker.

Or do I have to do it the old fashion way and download all to one folder and then move things as needed which would be very inconvienient and a time waster. Not to Mention that moving files from my host Windows 7 to my VM Windows Home Server takes like a million years. Longer than getting the torrent in the first place in some cases.

Any insight would be not only appreciated , but coveted !

    Thanks,

    James

uTorrent is far to basic for that. Each time you start up a torrent tell it where to put the file in the location bar at the top of the selection window it presents you with. Thats it, there really is no other way.

I see one possible way that *might* work, but only if you're cool with using RSS.

In that case, you could set up uTorrent to "load .torrents from directory automatically" and use FlexGet to grab .torrent files for you and put them there. In FlexGet there's a plugin that lets you specify a download path for each torrent, based on what pattern it matches.

Sorry, I know that sounded awfully confusing. :) But it's actually pretty simple though, once you get the logic behind it. Here's an example of what the config might look like:

    Code:
    feeds:

feed: Some Tracker # This is just the name of the feed
rss: http://www.somesite.com/feed.rss&passkey=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX # RSS link for the tracker you are using.
regexp: # We are using regular expressions to make the filters.
accept: # Anything that matches will be downloaded.
            - .*Xbox360.*|.*Some.Title.*Xbox360.* # Anything that matches this particular expression will be downloaded to the path specified on the next line.
                path: X:\path\to\360_game_dir
-.*Some.Artist.*CD.* # Anything that matches this particular expression will be downloaded to the path specified on the next line.
                path: X:\path\to\music_dir
-.*720p.*|.*Some.Movie.*720p.* # Anything that matches this particular expression will be downloaded to the path specified on the next line.
                path: X:\path\to\movie_hd_dir
rest: filter # Anything that doesn't match our expressions won't get downloaded.
download: X:\path\to\utorrent_watchdir # This needs to point to the directory that is being watched by uTorrent.
This is just one way to set it up though, there are plenty of others as well. If you're interested, read through the documentation available at the site (cookbook and plugin sections are especially useful).

I have no idea if this actually works with uTorrent, as I've never tried it (I don't really see why it wouldn't). I know it's possible with rtorrent though, and a lot simpler too. With rtorrent you just schedule a watch-directory for each type of torrent. Then, you specify seperate download paths for each watch-directory. Every time you add a .torrent file to one of your watch-directories, it will start downloading automatically to the path associated with it.

Sorry if this doesn't make a whole lot of sense. :)

I'm kinda new to this stuff myself. Thought I'd try helping you out though. If you'd like to know more regarding FlexGet or rtorrent, feel free to ask or send me a PM - and I will try to help you out to the best of my abilities (which are quite limited).

    Cheers!

Hmm, I don't think it is impossible providing that you do not use webUI. For utorrent, yes, it has only one default download location (that webUI uses), however, it remember all the past locations as well. So you just need browse to the location once, then use them later on. All you need to do is to power on your windows home server in your VM, configure shared folders, map the folders as network drive on your HTPC, with names like Movies, TVs, Apps etc. Then do the same thing on your laptop, configure a shared folder, then map it on the HTPC. You will be download files to different locations.
If you have to use webUI for some reason, you may consider to install VNC on your HTPC so you can remote in.

So. heres what I came up with.. Using Utorrent for Movie sites on my HTPC , Using Azureus for Blue Ray downloads on htpc, using utorrent on extra laptop for 360 games as I need to be able to burn them, as well as unrar, test, and will not be downloading as much or as often.

    Thanks guys!
