    Default IRC newbie asking for help !!!

    I am newbie in IRC .. and I want to know if it's possible to join more than one server ... with more than one nickname ??

    for example :

    I want to join T-I irc channel ... and in the same time I want to join on one of my trackers IRC ... and I don't have the same nickname on both ...

    if it's possible .. can you tell me how ??

    Hi TheBrokenHeart,
    This is what i know so far. To join multiple server on 1 instance of an iRC client use this command:
    /server -m irc.server.com

    As for changing of nicknames.. give me some time i'll try to find out.

    Chatzilla will do it just fine. it`s an ad-on for firefox. try it, as i know it lets u connect multiple servers, but i`m not sure about nickname`s.

    I'm sure there any plenty of ways to do it, and I'm certain that there has to be one better then mine

    But this is how I figured it out myself because obviously you don't want to join tracker channels with the user name you use here.

    If your not interested in having mIRC perform commands when you auto connect to different servers and all you want is the command to change nicks its:

    /nick NEW NICK

    ---------------------
    My way to do it is by telling mIRC to do certain commands when you join the server (like nick change, identify, giving your pass key, etc)

    Assuming your using mIRC.

    Go to Tools>Options>Connect>Servers>Add
    And add the Torrent Invites IRC server

    So
    Description: Torrent Invites
    IRC Server: irc.austirc.net
    Group: AustIRC

    and Add.

    Then go to Options (below Servers) and click on the Perform box.
    Tick enable perform on connect if it isn't already

    Alrighty so it's here where we can tell mIRC to do stuff for us automatically.

    Go to Add and add the AustIRC network you just made.
    Then in the Perform Commands box type.
    /nick TheBrokenHeart
    /msg nickserv identify YOURPASSWORD EMAIL
    /join #torrent-invites redzonetorrent

    So whenever you join the AustIRC server it will change your name, identify you and auto join the channel with the p/w.

    Now do this for any tracker IRC servers you join.
    A lot of them require doing quite a few extra steps before you can get onto it though like adding a pass key, or asking a bot for an invite, etc.

    So just type what you would usually type to get on the channel into the Perform Commands box for those trackers after:

    /nick NICK FOR TRACKER

    For example this is what I have for ScL
    /nick MYNICK
    /msg nickserv identify MY P/W
    /timer1 1 15 /join #CHANNEL

    You usually won't need the time, but I like having it anyway in case there's a delay identifying.
    Timer1 REPETITIONS SECONDS /COMMAND if you were wondering.

    It's the method I've been using for awhile now with no issues.
    If you have any problems feel free to ask.

    Would like to learn if there's a better method as well as I'm relatively new to IRC and commands as well.

    Hope it helps by the way.

    click on options-->servers..then add the server,port and other details.
    then add more servers..then ok.
    lets say u have 2 servers now..click options again,servers..click on the server u want.
    select..add the username u have..click new server window if u have one open..
    do it another time for another server with the different name u want.

    u can also autojoin,autoidentify and autostart servers and channels u want so u dont bother to click options,etc all the time..

    autoidentify:
    hit alt+r make new or paste this into the page there on remote window.

    on *:connect:
    if ($network = Name of server.for example P2P) { /msg NickServ IDENTIFY pass | /join #channel )
    }

    save as give name TI.txt for example.hit ok.

    when u have registered name u dont have to type /msg etc it will autoidentify u..

    lets say now when u open mirc to autojoin,autostart some servers and channels.
    hit alt+r again go to remote tab make new and paste this

    on *:START:{

    server irc.server.net port pass -i username
    server irc.server.net port pass -i username
    .................................................. ..........
    etc............................................... .........

    }

    u can also put that on the above script.
    i have all autostart in one .txt

    now lets say u want to join one server, 2 different channels on the same server with different usernames.

    then hit again alt+r do the same and paste this

    on *:connect:{
    if (($network == name of irc) && ($me == username 1)) { /msg nickserv identify pass | /join #channel1 }
    if (($network == name of irc) && ($me == username 2)) { /msg nickserv identify pass | /join #channel 2 }
    }
    torrents before community should be what it's all about.

    Go here: CBL Lookup and enter your IP. If it says it's listed, you are probably infected by a virus. The virus uses your pc as a host to scan and spam other clients you're connected with (such as via IRC). That's why many IRC servers use the CBL list to block access to their network for infected PCs.

    I've had this a couple of times myself as well, and I always has to do a format in order to get rid of the virus. If you get on that list you're infected pretty badly, as these viruses are hard to get rid of.
