Rules Regarding Positive Reputation and Thanks
You may give positive rep or thanks when...:
- a post is useful to you
- a post is useful to someone else
- a giveaway is made
- a request is filled
So when you should you NOT give positive rep or thanks?
- when someone makes a request
- when someone bumps a thread
- for anything resembling spam
- in order to receive an invite (you may give rep or thanks to a deserving giveaway it if you desire but please report any threads that require rep or thanks as a condition of the giveaway)
In addition...
You MUST fill out the comment field explaining why you gave the rep. Leaving the comment field blank is not allowed. If you are found giving baseless rep or making behind-the-scenes deals with other members in order to increase your site rep you can and will be banned permanently. Rep cheating is a serious matter and will not be tolerated at T-I. Anyone found in violation of this rule will be dealt with quickly and harshly.
THE OFFICIAL MOD APPROVED CRITERIA FOR GIVING NEGATIVE REP:
written by Eschaton
This is a forum, and more often than not people will say useless/meaningless things. Just because people have the power to neg rep someone doesn't mean they shouldn't misuse it. Also many times people are neg repped because their opinion isn't liked. This is not okay and will not be tolerated. This includes use of the new groan button. Groaning is worth one negative rep point and should only be used for cases of mild spam, rude posts, or other threads/posts that are minor rule infractions. it should not be used because you are unhappy with something. Being able to give rep is a privilege that should not be abused. Violaters of this rule will be dealt with harshly!
Here are a few reasons that neg rep or groans should be given:
- to a cheater
- to a flamer
- to a liar
- to a scammer
Most of these people are given infractions and bans anyways, so lets expand it
- blatantly disregarding the rules
- to an extremely offensive post
- to someone who spams around continuously (do not go neg-rep happy!)
- to someone who insults or flames
- to repeat offenders
The bottom line is no one likes being neg repped. In some cases it is necessary, but it should always be given serious consideration.
