Thread: How to appropriately direct link to a profile?

While I will admit this may be a mundane post for the lot of you, and i sincerely apologize for that, I have a question that begs to be answered!

I am fairly new to this community and recently I came across my first G/A that asked for a'direct link to my profile'. i have seen this several times and im certain that it is not out of the ordinary. but it seems like a risky endeavor?

But i am still not certain on how to do it appropriately, and much more importantly SAFELY!?!

I have searched and searched for this advice and i am very sorry if it exists and i just wasnt able to find it...

*if it doesnt exist, perhaps someone could place a tutorial advising how it can be done safely so that newbies, like myself, can seek this information without placing themselves at risk!

I've exposed my nickname from few trackers a couple of times already and it was all fine. We're all here for the same purpose. In case you have any problems due to giving your profile link away, your inviter is most likely to get banned here, so it's in his best interest to keep it only for his consideration (especially that he also might get in trouble - trackers don't like public g/a of their invites too and this is what he's doing, right?).

So you just go to your profile, copy the url from your address bar and send it to that user via PM.

Another issue is whether or not he requests that righteously. I mean.. I wouldn't if the case didn't concern some really hot high-level tracker and / or.. well.. you're a newbie here, maybe he just wanna make sure you can be trusted. Maybe if you were 33%, 55% or better you wouldn't approach such a request.

This works vice versa as well - I wouldn't expose my profile link to a newbie, only to trusted members (or at least looking alike).

All in all it's up to you to decide whether to take the 'risk' or not. I'm not in your shoes, don't know the details, can't advice you more than that.

Yeah I personally have sent and received profile links. Really you need to trust and be trusted depending on the circumstances. You could always block out your name and ip if your insecure, but otherwise im pretty sure youll be fine. Again adenai said it best make sure your trust the person.

There is no harm in giving our profile links to the person offering GA..as it is the only way to authenticate the applicants in our world..there are few ppl who try to fake their ratio proof and cheat..so asking for the profile links is a better choice to know whether the applicant truly deserves the invite or not..
I have provided my profile links to various inviters and so far everything is fine..I assure you that nobody misuses the profile links in our community as everybody understands its importance..
