Thread: Is Cross-Seeding considered "cheating"?

I tried my first cross-seeding a few days ago with an IMAGE-SET of XXX on Sct. The file is about 13MB or something. I got the file from PT. Then I started the seeding and I was happy then my download wasn't counting but my upload is increasing. So I thought it was ok. Then today my account got disabled. What was the problem? I thought cross-seeding is a popular way of boosting your ratio (not that I needed more ratio because I had 2.034 something).

So I went to their IRC support channel. Unfortunately I met with their super rude mod DeevZ. I asked gently why I got banned/disbled. He wasn't patient enough to give me a good answer but kept on banning me even in IRC. Well I know nothing about hacking or cheating but I totally wasted my money and time contributing the 100GB+ of uploads there. I am really really upset.

Lol, what breaks my heart even more is I don't even know what really caused my account banned. The moderator in the IRC just said I cheated but hey you'll know I done nothing wrong even on this forum and even on ScT. But the moderator kept on saying I cheat, making me look like a professional hacker who's trying to get back the account by acting like a good person. After all, the human there on ScT are trained to treat the people who got banned like that to protect their site. I just have to hope some day I'll get another invite. And yea not to forget to avoid cross-seeding.

are u even sure that cross-seeding is what caused u to get banned in the first place?


like did they even mention what the reason was that u got banned?

I cross seed on ScT all the time and have never had any issues at all. Are you sure it's not something else?

good to know, i do the same, but he scared me when he inferred that the ban was caused from that, i kinda found it hard to belive that cross-seeding would get u banned. but, hey u never know.

I cross seed everything on every tracker pretty much.
You may find that there is 2 possibilities.

1) You actually cheated at some stage (ratio hack program etc)
2) Your bit torrent client was on the dis-allow list or it is an old version sending false data. - this happened to me at what.cd

was the problem ever rectified with what.cd?

Actually Cross-Seeding is considered CHEATING EVERYWHERE (where DHT isn't allowed!)
So never do it!

Cross-Seeding is (same data U same TORRENT U but few trackers)
