    Default Fsb cpu ram

I understand that when your ram fsb is faster than your cpu fsb, your ram will be forced to run at a lower speed that the cpu has. But what happens when your cpu fsb is faster than your ram fsb? You can make your ram run faster i know, but what will happen if you just leave it like that? Is it okay? Will the system be stable? Thanks!

I was under the impression that the front side bus was obsoleted. AMD and Intel have been using hypertransport and quick path interconnect respectively as of late. But back in the day, the memory and CPU used to talk to each on the FSB and shared the same clock frequency, except the CPU had a multiplier that would multiply the frequency of the CPU.

    example.

if the FSB was 100 MHz and the CPU multiplier was 4.5, your CPU would run 450 MHz.

It used to be really easy to overclock things back then, as all you had to do was throw on a decent aftermarket heatsink/fan and adjust the CPU multiplier until it wouldn't boot, go back one step, and run a pressure test on the system.
