Using OpenDNS versus your ISP or any other public DNS servers does not make you Safer or more vulnerable to get "caught"

It is merely an alternative that is arguably safer and faster then other services.

Furthermore, DNS Resolution only resolves entered ho***ames into IPs and does not participate in the web browsing/torrent transfers per se.

Finally, torrent transfers are done directly with IPs and do not use ho***ames so in that sense, OpenDNS has no relevance to the activity of trading files...

as pot33 said it changing DNS has nothing to do with file transfers(bandwidth). its only affecting the translation of domain names to IP's or vice-versa.

in all truth it doesn´t affect browsing speed much either because of the way DNS works, eventualy any changes of IP's or new additions of IP's/domains will propagate to your ISP's DNS. Also your own queries will cause your Isp to Cache the DNS results.. as well as your browser/OS.

    Advice: Don´t bother..

It doesn't really speed it up as much as you think...

yes,OPEN DNS is quicker because the ISP DNS become flooded with their users..so at times browsing becomes bit slow..in this case OPEN DNS is helpful and moreover,it filters the content..it filters a larger amount of porn sites....

I use a caching DNS server for my systems on my local network so that ends up being much faster once a name is cached than any offsite DNS. I don't really like OpenDNS messing with DNS by sending me to an OPENDns Landing page, so I don't personally use it.

Pot33 nailed the rest of your questions on the head.
