Make sure to check that you have the appropriate ports forwarded from your router to the box running rtorrent. You might have to set a static IP for this. The ports that are forwarded to the computer with rtorrent must match the ports that are set in your rtorrent.rc (or whatever your rutorrent settings display)

Also, it's always a good idea to create an introduction here before posting. It is not too hard and generally happens pretty quick. I would urge you to do this, as you will get a lot more help with your problem if you did this.
