Cannot stream to PS3
Hi guys,
I've been streaming all my files to the PS3 since forever and although I can still stream the majority of them I cannot do so for a select few.
I doesn't matter if I use Windows Media Server, TVersity or even PS3 Media Server - I always get a blank black screen.
You know when you open a file you will see the 'Play' button flash at the button? I get that but then nothing happens, how can I fix this?

Did the 'select few' media files play before you found this problem and also what type of file format is the media (videos?) you are trying to play?
I had this issue too at one point. Not sure which one fixed it but I freed up a lot of room on the hdd, defragged and uninstalled and reinstalled ps3mediaserver. For me it was mkv files that were over 4gbs that were the issue.
The majority of the files are MKV's and they play just fine, some of them did play before without any problems but now I get a blank black screen.
I am trying to play some videos from my HD camera and a movie.
The funny thing is that the movie streamed just fine before but as soon as I used MKV2VOB to insert subs in the movie it wouldn't work on the PS3 when using all of the above 3 servers to stream. I can play the file on my computer without any problems so I don't understand what caused this.
The videos from my camera used to work but it doesn't now

How silly of me, I didn't know there was an update!
I uninstalled PS3 Media Server and then installed the updated version, I can now stream the movie properly if I have unticked the 'Definitely disable subtitles' in Transcoding settings. I still can't play the file with hardcoded subs - which was a .mpg file.
Those having the same problem should try going on PS3 Media Server's website and update whatever version they have and there is a good chance things will go back to normal.

Interesting.. I haven't done any streaming onto my PS3 in a few months so I haven't had a chance to look at this to see if mine works or does not work, but thank's for the heads up. I'll make sure to update my PS3 media server next time I go to do this.
