Default What is the best Torrent site to post you shares?

I'm sorry now to start with. I might sound like a dumbass but I'm actually not. I just didn't get born with all the knowledge about Torrents. If that's a sin on this site then just ignore me.

So I have presented some stupid questions on this site and I'll continue to do so until I understand all this or I get banned because of not allowing people to try to learn things about torrents.

So I want to know what site would you suggest to post my own Torrents to? I'm willing to share my music and I have managed to get some peers but I still don't get all of this. There's this strange hassle about public and private trackers and I just don't know what to use and even how. I have like 47 peers for my torrent but usually uTorrent won't upload anything. Only very rarely. Why is that?

So my big dumbass question is:

In what Torrent site should I share my files? (I intend to spread music)

I gather one can't post same Torrent to several sites, right? Or I get BANNED, whoaaa. What a crime. I just don't get it that why the hell can be some Torrent found on so many different Torrent sites then? How should I share my files? Please help my sorry ass and twist the instructions out from stone if you have to. I'm not willing to browse this huge sites for a simple info - these sites are just too vast and I don't have nerves enough to start searching all the little bits of information piece by piece from several pages and try to understand all of it little by little. I would like to read simple instructions all in one place.

So if you could help me, I'd appreciate it very much. I still don't even know whether I even asked everything that I wanted to.

So can I use private and public trackers simultaneously? What are Passkeys? Why do trrents I download have so many Trackers in them? Are they all except one public trackers? What happens if I copy/paste trackers from some other Torrent file into my own Torrent? Do I get BANNED somewhere? What is all this Ratio talking? Why is it so important? What if someone else downloads my Torrent file and posts it to some other torrent site? Does the torrent get banned somewhere? Damn it does God exist?? Help me!

    Right

`cause if you haven`t account on other site, you can`t download files from their tracker

Hmm... I'm sorry I don't get it. Do you mean that I have to have an account on some site in order to be able to download files?? So can't I even download Torrents without an account? :/ :\

You make it far more confusing then it is. If you upload a torrent to a tracker you use your announce url. You are not suppose to use multiple announces on the same exact torrent. So go to utorrent>file>create torrent>select file or folder>copy paste url>create and save as

Same torrents can be found on multiple trackers because users upload them. Which tracker are you confused at btw?

    I'll run down your question

So can I use private and public trackers simultaneously?

I wouldn't. Just stick to private. Also if you mean upload to them simultaneously then no.

    What are Passkeys?

Passkey is how the tracker identifies you. Don't give this to anyone.

Why do trrents I download have so many Trackers in them?

Those are public trackers. Don't use them

Are they all except one public trackers?

I think they are external links to multiple public trackers and they announce at more then one. To help speeds probably, but public trackers are highly unsafe and you can get letters from your ISP.

What happens if I copy/paste trackers from some other Torrent file into my own Torrent?

    Don't really understand this question

What is all this Ratio talking?

Ratio is how much you've uploaded and downloaded. Say you have 100GB uploaded, a 1 ratio is 100GBup and 100GB down. Try to keep your ratio over 1. Seedboxes help if you have a slow connection.

    Why is it so important?

It shows that you share withothers, then just downloading a file then deleting it. That btw is referred to a H&R (hit and run)

What if someone else downloads my Torrent file and posts it to some other torrent site?

Depends on certain circumstances and on tracker rules, but for the most part no.

    Damn it does God exist??

Some believe so and some don't.

    Hope I have helped

Look in the Tracker Review Forum. Look for the trackers categorized as music. READ. We can't do all the work for you.

As I answered previously, you can generally share the files as part of differen torrents, but each .torrent file must be unique for each tracker. If not, you will have problems.

Public trackers. All open. All allow sharing across sites. That's the way they work.

What is your purpose? Most people (unfortunately) share because it is a means to getting what they want (the ability to download more stuff - music/movies/warez/whatever). The share by keeping a torrent they leeched active and uploading back. If that isn't enough, then they figure out what content they have that is appropriate to share as well. Since you are coming out the pubic tracker world, where sharing is not enforced or rewarded, I suspect you are not looking to build ratio or anything like that. What exactly is it that you have that is unique and you want the whole world to have?

Wouldn't we all. Part of learning is figuring things out for yourself and getting help as needed. Being spoon fed is really not the way to go, and I'm not sure how long anyone wants to babysit. Do read the Tutorial section here. A lot of people have given their time to write helpful how-to guides.

Not in the same .torrent. Otherwise, you can go to whatever tracker you can get into.

Since you are on public trackers, you've probably never seen this. Where you have been cutting and pasting your list of a gazillion public trackers, instead you will find only ONE entry (or maybe 2 or 3 if they spread their servers around). It will look something like this.

    http://tracker.privatetracker.com/announce.php?passkey=123456789asdfg1234556asdd&uid =987654

That string of numbers uniquely identifies you to the tracker. If you do not have a valid account, you will not be able to download. NEVER share this with anyone.

Because you download from public trackers.

Private trackers will have only one tracker listed in a .torrent file. Correct.

For public trackers, they just start announcing your torrent. For private trackers, it probably won't work and it will ruin your parents' credit rating.

    perhaps.

It is the means by which people are encouraged/forced to share so that swarms are fast and stay seeded.

They would have their own passkey as part of the tracker name and they would get banned. No one else would be able to access that torrent without a valid passkey.

The answer to that question is for approved members (10% or higher). Go get your application approved.

Yes. For private trackers, that is correct.

Your questions are actually all very good and you clearly have the fundamental knowledge of how trackers work, which is more than I can say for most people. Quite frankly, I think most people get by on private and/or public trackers without having half a clue about how things actually work. I can tell that you are well on your way to becoming an expert, just by the questions you've asked.

    Hi.
First of your not going to be banned for asking questions. Everyone has to start somewhere. Il do my best to answer your questions and I hope other members join in too.

Now. Regarding the site you want to post to. You will find that alot of trackers (Torrent sites we have an account with and download from) are specialised and dedicated to one type of genre. Eg. Games (Bitgamer/Blackcats etc) or Music (What.cd/Waffles etc). Then theres the general trackers which have a little bit of everything. They in a way resemble the public trackers you are used to, where all sorts of material can be uploaded to one site (eg. film, games, comics, apps). Examples of these type of general sites are "IP torrents, TorrentLeech etc"

You say you want to upload music. So I recomend a dedicated music tracker such as waffles or what.cd. Uploading on these type of dedicated sites means more people could potentially grab your files. I personally when looking for music go to those types of websites before I look elsewhere. Give a search in the tracker review section of the site and see which one is for you.

You then go onto saying "I gather one can't post same Torrent to several sites, right". This isnt entirely true. Every tracker has different rules. Some require users do not post their material elsewhere others dont give a dam. Posting the actual .torrent file from one tracker to another may cause complications. Although, most sites cleverly use a script to wipe out any rogue or miscelanous announces (Where you tracker passkey is stored).
I cant give you a definitive answer like you want because it's different for each tracker. You can find the same material across several trackers. This was because the user most likely created a new torrent with a new announce url to reflect the site he/she was uploading too. (Its getting alittle complicated I know. Bear with me..)

There is nothing stopping you from using private and public trackers simultaneously like you say. However, private trackers dont use DHT and peer exchange where public ones do. So make sure those settings are turned of when using private trackers. Truth is, Ive never ever used public tracker again after I found the private tracker community. Mabye this will happen to you too.

Passkeys are stored in the announce url which is stored in the .torrent file. It basically confirms with the tracker that yes you do have an account there and these are the files that are going to be download.
    Eg. http://tracker:port/passkey/announce

Yes Thats the thing! The .torrent files you download from have alot of DHT url's so there are plenty of seeds. The .torrent in the private tracker only ever contains one. Private trackers require DHT (Distributed Hash Table) to be disabled because you could be uploading to people who don't even have access to the site, so you won't be receiving the proper credit for your uploads & downloads. Always make sure it is disabled in your torrent client or thats going to lead to a BAN.

"What happens if I copy/paste trackers from some other Torrent file into my own Torrent?" - I assume you are refering to public .torrent files. You cant just copy paste those announce URL's to a new torrent you've created unless you know the files in the torrent are uploaded on those sites. Mabye someone can clarify on this.

Ratio - It is generally wise to seed to a 1:1 ratio. Basically, this means you seed as much as you have taken. However, this rule is slightly different in the private tracker world. In private trackers, its hard to achieve the same goal. So many trackers have their own custom rules on how to seed and what to. Some trackers, only require you to seed 36hrs, some require a certain amount of days, some give unique bonus's for seeding long term and some are ratioless! This list goes on. Each torrent site has their own rule to this. So, you may not need to seed 1:1 but only for a few days and then you can do what you want.

These sites normally have your stats and generally have an overall ratio like Bitgamer. It shows your overall download, your overall upload and your overall ratio. Its always best to have a ratio higher than 1. So its generally a good idea to have more upload then you have downloaded. Then this is where we get into extreme buffers. Some people have crazy upload like 2TB's to a download of 400mb. This is what I like to call rato whoring. Basically the user cares to much about having/creating a large buffer (so he/she can download alot) and not worry about seeding. I also feel it's not really "using the tracker". But this is a whole differing topic and thats just my oppinion on it and Im sure other's feel different.

Its important to seed because your not Hit n Running. Which is really bad in the torrent community. Basically it is, as soon as you download the files, you stop the torrent before anyone has a real chance to get the files you've downloaded. Some people are really concerned with bandwidth etc.
Generally its ok to post files elsewhere unless the tracker specifically states not to and even then its somwhat rare. Perhaps it was site only exclusive content.

I know you want to be spoon fed the answers, but truth is, you also need to do a little research for what type of trackers you want. What type of torrenting lifestyle you want etc. Become a full member here, and talk to us on IRC and around the forum. The members here will gladly help you out and state their oppinion if asked.
You may find some useful stuff relavent to your interst here: Tutorial Index and Tutorial Review

I wrote this in haste, so please forgive me if it feels a little rushed. I didnt cover eveything mainly because this topic is so huge. You've asked some very open questions so a definitive answer cant be given like you want. But hopefully it has answerd some of your questions and raised some more.

You are now on the path....

Can we get two threads merged? OP posted identical questions twice and both are getting answered independently:
