    Default Best Filmmaking Trackers

    Hi Guys and Gals,

I'm looking for trackers that have film making resources. Books, videos, tutorials etc. Anything to do with the film making process from pre production, writing, planning, financing, to production, camera work, directing, make up all the way to post production with the special effects, editing, sound etc. etc.

    So far I've got:
gfxnews (Great for special effects and pre, post and during production resouces).
Bitme (Similar to above but not as far into the sfx stuff. More production stuff)
Demonoid (has a bit of everything there)
The pirate bay (has maybe half of what demonoid has)
TheGeeks (little amount of it here and there)

Are there any other trackers that I should be looking at?

    Many thanks in advance,
    Wonder.

I would think you have enough trackers. But if you are finally looking for more, so you can look at the prefix "learning"

I've made some movies without torrenting. My honest opinion is that you go out and give it a shot. You can easily get caught up in all the theoretical.
Good luck on your movies Wonder, please share one on the forum.

    Hi,

There won't be many specifically for film making but I would recommend TheVault. It is a great tracker for anyone interested in business and has tonnes of content for areas like financial planning, business tips and you might get lucky and find some things on film making.

Also TheVault is full of business professionals so even if you don't find the content you have the chance to meet some people who know their stuff and will get some great tips from them.

The last thing I want to do is collect trackers. I hoped by listing the ones that I'm finding the Film Making content on, if someone knew of a glaring missing tracker that has a super secret cache of film making gems, they'd share.

And yes... going out to give it a shot soon. We are trying to gel together some story ideas to turn into viable scripts that don't suck.... but all out first stuff sucks right? I did film school like another lifetime ago and everything (well the technology mainly) has really changed, so I've been finding that the tutorials are the best to help catch up and gain access to answers I've never had.

In regards to sharing... I'm sure if I make anything worthwhile watching, it'll turn up on the trackers anyway... there or youtube ;) ... and if I post something, I'll kind of lose my online anonynominity. I'd have to keep my nerd rage in check.

I'll give TheVault a little look too. Up to date information on the business and distribution side of film making is rather difficult to find.

Edit: hmm.. it seems that TheVault isn't a relatively easy site to get into. Any tips on how someone who keeps good ratios would find an invite (while knowing that I'm in the 10% section) /wink /wink.

Thanks so much for your quick replies!

I don't think the vault has invites. You can get inside by taking an interview in their irc channel. Be aware that it is not an easy one and you won't get inside if you aren't interested on the content they have there.

I would recommend Demonoid. It does indeed have a good mix of everything, and most of what it has is good quality stuff. You can find both tutorial books and software on Demonoid.

Already been leeching demonoid dry as noted above, but I do appreciate the effort.
