windows server
Hi guys so i have been with ovh for a while but recently upgradecd my server so that i could encode so been a cheapskate i bought windows server web edition i havent got a clue what i bought i thought it would load up with a start bar and icons lol but it loads up desktop with command prompt like msdos screen in middle ...what do i type lol please can some 1 help me figure out what i have done please and thanks
sounds like hyper-v server core edition. can you post a screenshot ? than maybe i can tell you more
I Am Not Sure, But in windows server web edition You can Build Your Server By using command prompt Just Do A Google Search.
And Always Do Google Search Before Buy Anything.
I am in the same boat, I have been trying different searches on google and i still cant figure out how to transfer files across or get started without any software being on there besides the command prompt. I enabled powershell and mmc. Not sure what else to do. I have also disabled the firewall.

it was the wrong version of windows web server i was installing the core version so all i did to fix was reinstall the correct version windows web server 2008 r2
I got a kimsufi 2g with the core version as i was told thats all i needed to get for a seedbox? was i misinformed?
If your server is an OVH/Kimsufi, you can always get the OVH manager and install whatever you wish. I had no idea about it until Lardo (aka God walking among mere mortals) explained it to me today. Its far easier, believe me.
yeah i installed other version but as cynic said i dont think it matters aslong as u have paid for a licence i got the 18gbp 1 with vat
Installed the OVH Manager, seems good for some things, but still doesnt seem to give me any options to transfer or install applications? I still dont get it. I am starting to think i should have got linux, cheaper and seems to be far more info on setting up a seedbox with them.
You can't install any applications, only Windows, Linux etc. You have to FTP upload the rest of the applications.
It would also be better if you made a proper introduction first mate and be accepted as a regular member.
