Thread: Reputation.Whats the point of it ??

I didn't know where to put this thread so i flipped a coin and .. well this is the result.
Anyway im really interested to know more about the reputation system.
I clicked on Settings by mistake and there i saw that i have 318 reputation points and i have no idea what are for and how i got that many .... i tried to look at other members reputation but i wasn't able to do so.
I joined a while ago to giveaway my invites but other than that i never really looked around or use the forum that much so i apologize if im asking a stupid question :)

What is rep? How do I give it? How do I get it?

Reputation indicates how active and trustworthy you are. Rep is given by clicking this icon: The more rep a person has, the more you can be sure they have been an active, committed, and honest member of T-I. You may see where you fall in the rankings by visiting this page.

When should you give reputation?

You may give positive rep or thanks when...:
a post is useful to you
a post is useful to someone else
a giveaway is made that you like
a request is filled
a good suggestion is made
a post is helpful to the moderators

So when you should you NOT give rep?
when someone makes a request
when someone applies for an invite
when someone bumps a thread
or anything resembling spam
in order to receive an invite (you may give rep or thanks to a deserving giveaway it if you desire but please report any threads that require rep or thanks as a condition of the giveaway)

I think that sais it all

The amount of rep you have will also influence your user rank.
I suggest that you read the complete FAQ again (or for the first time if you haven't done it yet). You can find a link to it in my signature :)

Rank = requirements = description / privileges:

= this is where users are before their introductions are accepted

= this is where users are after their introductions are accepted

= 50 posts + 25 reputation + 30 days = access to '33% Giveaways' forum. Able to make requests in the Requests section.

= 150 posts + 75 reputation + 45 days = access to '55% Giveaways' forum & you are allowed to respond to other people's introductions.

= 250 posts + 125 reputation + 60 days

= 500 posts + 250 reputation + 90 days

= 1000 posts + 500 reputation + 180 days

= Must be approved by a senior staff. Recruitments are located here.

= 5 Euros = No Access to VIP forum, User Title Still Blue, VIP Tier 1 Rank Bar.

= 10 Euros OR rank up from VIP Tier 1 with 25 Reps 50 Posts and 30 Days Registered = No Access to VIP forum, User Title Gold (No star), VIP Tier 2 Rank Bar.

= 30 Euros OR rank up from VIP Tier 2 with 75 Reps 150 Posts and 45 Days Registered = Access to VIP Forum, 55% Invite Forum, Sigs, Avatars, User Title Gold and Starred, VIP Tier 3 Rank Bar.

= 50 Euros OR rank up from VIP Tier 3 with 250 Reps 500 Posts and 90 Days Registered = Access to VIP Forum, 55% Invite Forum, Sigs, Avatars, User Title Gold and Starred, VIP Tier 4 Rank Bar.

= 70 Euros OR rank up from VIP Tier 4 with 500 Reps 1000 Posts and 180 Days Registered = Access to VIP Forum, 55% Invite Forum, Sigs, Avatars, User Title Gold and Starred, VIP Tier 5 Rank Bar, Tons of respect.

Having rep gives you the power to increase your progress bar from 10% all the way up to Complete level progress.

Many users have trouble getting rep to increase their progress and have access to the prestegious invites within the 33 and 55% invites section of the forum :)

Side note: Having more rep makes you cooool :P

Don't mind BieberFever, reputation has nothing to do with being cool. Take him for instance, his username alone makes him one of the biggest loses here. That and he spelled cool with 4 Os, who does that?

omg, i can't stop laughing.


Anyways to have 318 rep with only 28 post that a really great start. Most people don't even have that much with that low amount of posts.

If you have so many rep points and only 28 posts that means that your posts have been extremely helpful and appreciated. People like your giveaways and post so they give you rep points as a thank you for your help More rep points mean more respect and more chance for you to get invites to "hard to get" trackers and people trust you as you give something good to this place I see that you made a FTN review that's where you get that points in the past people are crazy about that tracker lol

What is rep? What is it used for? and What is the point of it? I will explain those points in my post below.

• Rep is a type of thanks, It is given when a post is either helpful or useful to yourself or the community abroad.

• Rep is used generally on most forums as a way to see how active and helpful someone on a forum is. But here at TI, inviters may use it to get a rough idea of how trustworthy someone is.

• Rep is generally a a way to see how much a single member has contributed to the community. But many other people use it for other things. Including bragging rights.

Also you have an awesomely high Rep for the amount of posts that you have. That being said I hope you enjoy your stay here and if you got any questions, please feel free to find me on the IRC.
