Thread: Seedbox Question?

guys who have seedboxes,does anyone tried to watch a movie on it? or the movie just hang (just like mine).

I know seedboxes is only for upload and raising ratio but if i wanted to watch something like a movie on it ,what i can do?

You can request your seedbox provider to install a HTTP server.. or purchase from a provider that has pre-configured HTTP.

Using this you can copy the link of your movie/tv file on the HTTP and stream it to VLC player .

AFAIK you can not watch movies from a seedbox. If you have the storage just download it to your HDD and delete it when your done watching it. If you further clarify your question I may be able to help you better...

my seedbox(OVH system),it's a shared seedbox.

Do you have a HTTP download address?

If not, but you have access to SSH (unlikely), assuming Python is installed (it should be), you could try using Simple HTTP Server.

Just type this in the command line:

python -m SimpleHTTPServer 8000

(You may need to change the port)

And visit http://YourSeedboxIP:8000

If you have SSH but don't know how to get it started, there'll be plenty of simple tutorials around. Alternatively, just ask me or someone else here. If you don't know, doesn't hurt to ask your provider.

Edit: Also, make sure you have the bandwidth to be able to stream. Judging from the phrasing in your OP it actually sounds like you've started a stream but it hangs. If the length of the video is longer than it'd take you to download it, then this is very likely to happen.

SkyLover, can you give us a link to your package on your providers homepage?
Also you described that the stream hangs. So you already tried streaming? How big was the file? What program did you use to watch the stream? Is it http, ftp or something else?

I am streaming from my seedbox and its working fine. As you said seedboxes have a good upload speed. And that's what you want for streaming.

Try using either VLC or MPC and in the address bar for the stream try the following :

The path must be correct and the file names are CaSe SeNsItIvE - Good luck
