    Default backup, system image strategy

    hi, my mom is not too computer savy and she keeps getting her computer bogged up with files some minor virus here and there, and overall makes her computer slow every couple of months. and i keep on reformatting it and it just takes too much time.

    and im not too familiar with backup up and system images and stuff so i just wanted to ask someone opinion or expertise.

    is there a way to make a backup of a fresh install + some programs like avast, so that i can make like an image of it and then just recover from it so i dont have to start from step 1.

    cause her laptop has 2 paritions the OS, and a storage partition. using windwos 7

    so basically what i want is to make a backup or image (not familiar with terms) of the 2 paritions that when it gets slow i can just revert back to what it was before she used it.

    with all the folders, programs, and file locations intact, like i dont have to reinstall anti virus. cause i think i have done this before on my computer but i dont know if i did it right, cause when i restored i needed to install my programs again cause they werent placed on the same locations or something and they were wonky so that was pretty useless.

    what i want is a complete restore.

    i dont know if i explaind properly, but i can explain more i guess if u want.

    thanks! hope someone can help

    It sounds like you're talking about disk imaging. There are a lot of options out there, and currently I use the imaging software which comes on the Win7 64-bit repair disk. It's not as "feature rich" as the commercially available options, or even the freeware options, but it gets the job done.
    This prompted me to do a Google search and I came up with a couple good links to review [these are by no means the only options to review, just a starting point];
    Commercial Software;
    Disk Imaging Software Review 2012 | Best Hard Drive Recovery Software | Hard Drive Backup Software - TopTenREVIEWS
    Freeware;
    Best Free Drive Imaging Program

    One of these caught my eye, Easeus Todo Backup Home. I liked what I saw, so I'm going to give it a try. The download link for it is; Best free backup software. Hard drive backup and recovery, image and clone freeware - EaseUS Todo Backup Free

    Hope this helps.
    But, there are probably many users out there that are much more knowledgeable on this than myself, so hopfully they will add their insights as well.
