    Default Banned for Cheating?!

I need help figuring this out. I've been torrenting a long time, but apparently there are things I dont understand. I tried signing into the website of this private tracker and found my account disabled. So I joined the IRC chat to ask why, and the admin simply said, "You know why you were banned." I pressed him for details and he said I was "cheating." HOW the HELL was I cheating?! I LOVED this tracker and worked hard to get my ratio up, was committed to seeding a lot of the torrents, and now THIS happens?! I'm so damn upset im almost ragetyping.... i almost want to cry. Could someone explain to me how this could've happened so I can avoid it in the future? I use uTorrent 2.2.1. I dont know what the hell happened.

    Hi ssod1793,

I would recommend you create an Introduction..please read the rules (Introductions: Rules, FAQ and Registration Form)

and post an intro: create an introduction

    Now about you being banned...
    Which tracker was it?

We could spend forever trying to think of reasons why but I would say to maybe go back to the IRC and maybe speak to another staff member and get them to give you more details.

There's many things that could be reported as cheating to private trackers.. for example, wrong method to cross-seed, some trackers ban you for downloading~uploading at a crazy speed while using a seedbox without notifying them... You could go back and ask them for more details.

p.s. It would help if you could mention the tracker name.. some trackers admins have something up their a.. like BitmeTV lol

I apologize. I was caught in the grip of my righteous fury and eager to get an answer to this, and ended up skipping the reg process. I've submitted my intro now, and I suppose I can keep talking here until it's accepted.

It was TheOccult.bz. Now that I've calmed down, let me explain it again.

Today I discovered my TO torrents had tracker errors and I tried signing into the site, only to find my account disabled. I managed to get into IRC to ask why, and "Taj" not-so-gently accused me of "cheating."

I KNOW how serious an offense cheating is. I've seen the posts around here and elsewhere screaming for the blood of cheaters, so when anyone gets accused of it, its a VERY big ******* deal.

    NO.

And that's WHY I'M SO DISTRESSED about this. I've apparently done something VERY BAD and I DON'T KNOW HOW.

First of all, I don't know if it was my client, or something I accidently did, or what. Taj didn't explain what happened, like if my client was sending incorrect data or something, so I have no way of figuring out what I "did." I've been using uTorrent 2.2.1. (Just updated it to the most recent version on the site.) That client has been giving me minor troubles for the past several months, like not properly removing the .!ut extensions from finished files, not logging some things properly, and apparently not even properly downloading files (I get "no longer have pieces such and such" after its finished, and have to redownload). I know that's not any kind of "proof" that a glitch caused this, but who knows.

Or maybe it wasn't my client, maybe it was something else on my computer, or my throttled connection, browser, or god knows what else. I only know the very basics of bittorrent, so I don't know what things would affect how it works.

Second, while I'm new to the whole private tracker scene, I've read about how close-knit tracker hosts are, and now I'm terrified that I won't ever be able to join another private tracker because of what's happened. Or, that I might join a private tracker and this same damn thing happens AGAIN.

Third, I had every intention of being a good sharer. I downloaded over fifty torrents and intended to seed them long afterwards -- I was even considering renting a seedbox (which I didn't get to) to get around my ISP throttling my upload speeds and other issues. I was VERY LOYAL to that site and had plans of being a long-time member and helping to keep the less-seeded torrents alive. I let my computer sit online for COUNTLESS DAYS, day and night, so I could earn a better ratio and download more material.

I dunno if any of that vindicates me in anyone's eyes here, seeing as I can't explain exactly what I "did" because I don't know. But I feel like my loyalty and good will has been betrayed. I almost feel like if I'm GOING to be banned ANYWAY for NO apparent reason at ALL, than I might as WELL cheat, seeing as I'm going to be blamed for it either way. Not that I'd WANT to -- the torrent community has opened up so much resources and opportunities to me that it's almost sacred to me, and I'd prefer to support it than take advantage of it.

Maybe I'm just too emotional about all of this. But it's that important to me.

I've heard of cross-seeding but I'm not entirely sure of what it is, and therefore whether I've done it or not. I don't have a seedbox. My download speed can be up to 2MB/s, but my download speed gets throttled to about 250KB/s after a few seconds of going any faster.

And I can't ask them. I signed into their IRC support channel, and after Taj verbally held his hand up to my face he permabanned me.

I disabled DHT quite a while ago for reasons unrelated to this tracker. I might have had it enabled around the time I signed up, but wouldn't they have noticed back then?

Besides, uT lists the DHT for all those torrents as "not allowed," so I don't think I could've used it anyway even if it was enabled.

I doubt DHT was your problem. I am not on theOccult, but I've been a member on other .bz trackers for 3+ years, I probably had DHT on for 1-2 years and never ran into problems. Your best bet is get back on IRC and ask a different staff exactly why you were banned.

I know how you felt when you were acussed being a cheater, same thing happened to me on PTP!
I use a seedbox and was acused to being a cheater cause having a total of upload on a torrent without sending nothing!
Wtf i send it from the seedbox and someone received the data!
It´s frustating being acused about something that you didn´t (at least consciously)
