Thread: Seedbox Help

Just to be upfront, I'm new with using Seedboxes, so thanks in advance for the help and please let me know if I can offer more details.

Basically, I downloaded a new seedbox from whatbox.ca (the $15 Flex plan - 150 / 150 Mbps). I got the ruTorrent web client setup, and I have been able to download torrents onto the seedbox very quickly. However, downloading files from the seedbox onto my computer is MUCH slower. Is this because of the plan I bought?

Not really.
Seedbox to your computer download is dependent on your home connection provided by your ISP as well as a number of other factors like other traffic, internet path etc

A seedbox is basically a remote server (computer) that has a very fast network connection. So downloading torrents to your seedbox will inevitably be faster than you can download at home. I doubt that your vendor throttles your speeds based on the plan you have. The lower speeds you see from your seedbox to home are most the inherent limitations in FTP (file transfer method) and/or your home ISP speeds.

What you can do to increase speeds is use a FTP client that has multi-threading and segmentation features. Clients such as CuteFTP offer this. Segmentation is where multiple pieces of one file are downloaded at the same time. And multi-threading is where multiple files are downloaded concurrently using more of your ISP's speed capacity. These features will speed up your downloads because many pieces can be downloaded at once, each one at the maximum FTP speed.

What are you home connection speed? (That would ofcouse be your max download).
What are you downloading with from the seedbox? Are you useing a FTP client? I have a seedbox, where the FTP client speed are limited to lowers speeds. But I do not believe this is the case for whatbox.
Have you by accident limtited the speed in the FTP client?
Are you downloading in utorrent, while downloading from the seedbox?

Could any of the above be your solution? Im just trying to troubleshot..
