Default Tracker abbreviated names, tier levels

    Greets,

I might be suffering from a bad case of the post-semester stupids, but for the life of me I can't find what I'm looking for.

I know the invite forum is tiered according to your progress level, I know how I'll eventually progress to those upper levels and I know the rarer content is in the 50% forum.

I finally managed to find a glossary of tracker acronyms here:
    Tracker Acronyms!
(other new users will definitively want this )

What I still can't figure out is the expected tier level for each of them. I'm guessing there is a bit of fluidity on what level each tracker should be depending on external factors, but I figure there's a general guideline.

Just trying to map out what trackers I should build up first.

    Any insight?

Hi fge, welcome to T-I :)

There isn't an expected tier for a certain tracker but it does help decide sometimes whether you get an invite.

If you are starting off from scratch I would suggest getting the easier invites first such as Demonoid and IPT (great tracker) and buffer those to get a good ratio. After that it is down to you to persuade the invitee that you would be the right person to give the invite to.

Don't worry about being a certain level to apply for a tracker, invites are given away in all sections so it all depends on where the inviter wants to give them it has nothing to do with what your rank is but don't forget it will help as if you are competing with VIP's or 99%'ers for an invite it's obviously a safer bet to give it to the latter two.

Just make sure you stick around and be active so that everyone gets to know you, that way you will build up peoples trust too.

    Hope this helps.

I managed to get in CG and scienceHD before landing here so I do have a decent pair of ratios building up slowly, still trying to figure out my next move for HD content. I'll need to buff my connexion first though, as I detailed elsewhere Canada is a mean rather bad place upload wise.

Thanks for the clarification, can't wait to rise from the ranks by (hopefully) becoming an asset around here.

I agree with everything ASH said, but I would like to reiterate that IPT is the tracker you should go for. It is easy to get an invite, and it may be the greatest tracker that exists.

PM asking for invites on your own risk. If your PM is incredibly stupid, it WILL be posted in the mocking block.

Great, as soon as my current torrent tasks are done I'll look into it, it does seem to have quite a few favorable reviews.

You'll likely find that it is cheaper to rent a seedbox than to upgrade your house to connect to something with a halfway decent upload rate.

    Just fyi.
    Copper and Boxer like this.

you also have to think about ftp the file into your computer. I believe it better to get a better home connection. I pay about 30 dollar for 20MB down/ 5MB up

That's not bad. Around here the option is Qwest or Comcast, where quest maxes out at 756Kb/s up and Comcast is at 3Mbit/s, but with a 200GB transfer(!) cap. Notice that was Kb/s, lol. I'm lucky to get 65KB/s up from my house connect.

After some shopping I found an unlimited ADSL 25/7 line for less than what I was paying for a cable line, so at least there's that. A quote I got for a 100/100 fiber link was ball shriveling expensive though...
