Default Xbox and Windows Media Centre won't connect

I go through the proper steps, and the setup process begins. On my computer every box is checked and it's working on the last part of the process. Then my xbox says it lost connection to the host PC and that happens every single time.

Does anyone know the fix to this?

Do you have a firewall on? If you have check if both your xbox and your windows media centre have their connections accepted into your firewall. Also are you using wifi or a wired connection on your xbox? Make sure both are properly connected and configured in your xbox settings.

No firewall, both connections are hardwired and setup properly. Theyn can connect, because the first few steps are finding the extender, applying settings and so on. They can find and connect to eachother, but at some point they disconnect.

I would check the cables one more time. Make sure that the cable is not too long and properly connected at both ends.

Obviously you don't understand what I'm saying. They connect, but on the last step the Xbox gives an error. It does this every time I try.

Hmmm.... since i don't have an xbox my ability to help you is limited. Have you tried contacting the helpdesk from xbox? Maybe they can help you further.

I get this too, but after 2/3 tries it does work eventually. Not sure what causes it and have never found a fix, I just keep re-trying and it works.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Is your pc running Win7? And have all the latest XMBC software/Media Centre.

I don't think running the latest version of the media centre is gonna help in this case.

Just a quick question, you don't run a firewall at all on your computer?

my brother solved that by removing COMPLETELY his antivirus :) or at least try stopping it for a while in order to let it connect...
