Thread: What hazards in PM-ing a profile link?

I am pretty happy with my current trackers, but as I look to add a couple others, some are requesting that I give a profile link (as I get more "selective"). I get that it is by PM, so my information is available only to the person hosting the GA. I also get that the GA-host is taking a risk on me by inviting me, and so is entitled to ask me to put some "skin in the game".

Just so I know, what hazards to me are there to providing a profile link to a GA-host? I immediately imagine someone PM-ing the mods at my tracker to announce that I am participating in a torrent invite site. That alone might get me banned. OTOH, that sounds pretty paranoid, since the GA-host is taking a big risk that I won't be a good citizen on the new tracker.

Giving someone an invite without expecting something in return isn't against any tracker rules, which means you are not doing something wrong.
The other rule that some tracker have, which forbid you to give away invites in public also doesn't apply in the class restricted section of the forum (33%+)
Some staff members not only accept this forum, but also think it's a great opportunity to gain new and good members, on the other hand some tracker staff still hasn't realized that this forum strictly forbids trading or any kind.

If you want to be sure that you can trust a meber you should look at his posts, his recent giveaways and just his general reputation in our community.
Most of us are in close contact with a lot of tracker staff and some of us even are tracker staff at one tracker.

Since you do nothing wrong and don't break any rules, in the case you get banned you can always talk to a staff member of the specific tracker in their IRC and explain them the situation.

To sum it up you are not breaking any tracker rules, unlike traders/sellers do, but being cautious and paranoid are always good skills to have.

i think there is no risk at all in pm-ing a profile link as compared to posting a screenshot
and as far as the GA host reporting you is himself breaking the tracker rule by creating a GA,so there is no question about reporting you to your tracker staff
unless offcourse if the trackers have spies posted in this forum

anyways almost all trackers know about T-I TI IS SB and all other invite related forums and amongst all of them only T-I is in the good list of the tracker staff
with the exception of only few trackers most trackers dnt mind sharing invites at T-I

If you don't want to take any risk use your trackers to get to new trackers. Many of them especially gazelle runing trackers have forums for high user class members where other trackers staff and users give invites to other trackers. What.CD have one of the best invites forums and you can found many good invites also on PTP, BTN, Waffles, A-HD... All you need to do is to reach power user class and be a good user on your tracker. And the most cool thing about that is that you will be invited by tracker staff (completely safe) and it's approved by other trackers Also we have Tracker Recruitment where tracker staff give invites to our members. Like all have said use 33+ and VIP forum for your invites and requests and you are safe.

What is not true? as you might not know we have great invites in VIP forums. And as it required to donate or work hard to earn VIP this members are know as trusted well no one can assure you that you are 100% safe at any part of the forum but higher user class mean more hard work and that's mean less bad users... And yeah VIP requests can fill any user so don't sent profile links to just anyone that's should be obvious.

Less bad users doesnt mean safe. People can easily donate to get into VIP section.

that's true !
but if you give money ,you won't take the risk of getting banned , by bending the rules !

Screenshots aren't that safe since the tracker staff can compare the time of the screenshot or the post here with the users that refreshed the page at that moment. Compared with other data such as your country, ratio and the first digit of your download/upload... Well, it's not that hard to deduce which the user is by the screenshot alone.
If someone gets you banned on purpose, they will receive a very bad reputation here and it will be over for them in this forum.

i don't think the tracker soft is recording and saving the time every user reflesh the torrent page !
