Default Easiest way to reseed after reformat of boot disk?

I'm going to be getting a ssd for Christmas (yes I'm 22 and still get presents :)), and I'm looking for the easiest way to start reseeding my all my torrents after reformatting. Is there something I can do before reformatting? Like exporting my .torrent files? Can I have utorrent find automatically find the torrent locations without having to set the download location manually?

Thanks for the help in advance :)

Ouch, are you planning on doing data storage on your SSD, or are you going to re-use your old drive for storage?

No, I'm using the ssd for OS and important programs like PS, DW and BF3.

I currently have 2 mechanical drives, a 1TB spinpoint F3 and 2tb caviar green. The f3 is obviously my boot drive, and I'm currently in the process of transferring all of my older torrents to the green. So I'll be reformatting the f3, and then I don't know what I'll be doing with it.

This will only work if you keep the data files at the exact same place, but if you use the SSD only as boot drive and still keep the HDD for storage, it won't be much of a problem.

You will find the .torrent files usually in:
    $DRIVENAME\Documents and Settings\$USERNAME\Application Data\uTorrent
Replace $SDRIVENAME with your root of the drive, which is usually C:\ and your $USERNAME with your username.

You need to copy those to your boot drive and also need to make sure that those are pointing to the same location afterwards.

EDIT: You just need the .torrent files and if you use the same exact place for storaging I don't see an issue.

So essentially you are saying I wouldn't even need to edit the .torrent files becuase my data is staying in the same locations.

    $DRIVENAME\Documents and Settings\$USERNAME\Application Data\uTorrent

is the location of all the torrent files you downloaded and used on utorrent.

    --------------------

You must set the location manually so you won't need to re download all your files (video, appz , gamez)

This is for Windows XP. Since he is getting an SSD, I'm assuming that he will be using Windows 7 due to the fact that it's much better equipped to work with SSDs. Putting an SSD on Windows XP will be a bad idea.
For Windows 7 the location for the folder is
    $DRIVENAME\Users\$USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\ uTorrent
Basically, XP's "Documents and Settings" is "Users" in Windows 7, and the XP's "Application Data" is now "AppData\Roaming".
Just a copy from the entire uTorrent folder located there to the new installation should make the whole thing work without any additional trouble. This folder contains not only the torrents, but most importantly the data about the torrents: where the actual downloaded data is located on the hard drives, which file are selected for download/upload, the upload/download data of each torrent and the uTorrent settings and stats itself. All of this is not stored in the torrents themselves but in this folder. So, if you copy it to the new installation, everything will be exactly the same as in the previous installation and you won't have to reseed anything.
But for this to work, the name of the partitions\drives has to be the same. For example, if the torrent data is located at D:\ and after the installation this partition is renamed to E:\, he should rename it back to D:\.

U should be able to back it up by copying utorrent settings like the others said..
here is how i would do it.

    in the run command type
    %AppData%\uTorrent
and backup the data for utorrent

Then just, install utorrent on the new machine.. run it.. exit it.. then
    in the run command type
    %AppData%\uTorrent
and restore the data for utorrent

Its the location of the torrent data that will be an issue unless u can keep the same drive letter and folders for the data.

Well I didn't even get my SSD and I already had to manually add my torrents. I blame Waffles for this. I was getting the "Connection Limit Exceeded Error", and tried to install different versions of utorrent to fix this error. In my haste during one of the uninstalls I deleted my utorrent settings :(

I tried to get the migration thing to work, but I don't think it can with how I have my files set up? I don't have all my files in one location. I have folders for shows, movies, music, etc. If I point to the parent directory (the location where all of these folders are located), it doesn't seem to look inside the folders. Instead it starts downloading the torrent and placing it in the parent directory.

    Any thoughts?

I can follow your thought process on why you did that, but is it the same folder structures as before?
When you add a .torrent file manually, when you have already download the files, you must select 'don't start download automatically' when loading the torrent, otherwise it will start downloading without checking if the files already exist.

Does it work with the method I described above?
