    Default "Hardcore" torrent client?

I'm looking for some client that can handle huge number of torrents and huge traffic (say 1TB/day tops). So far i tried:
    utorrent (3) - freezes quite a lot
deluge - quite often drop rx and tx speed to zero, but at least don't freeze

i would like it to support executing command after download complete, labels and multiple watch folders are bonus, also scripting support would be nice.
So i came up with rTorrent, but as is quit a task to set it up and really try out i ask here first to see if there is someone with experience and can help me or share his experience. So is there? :)

    Thanks in advance

Deluge is the best client if you want to get the maximum of upload speed from one single torrent and try to max out your 1Gbps seedbox. On the other hand it uses quite a lot resources and is only good if you have 1-5 torrents running. Otherwise a seedbox with HDD's can't keep up with the speeds anyways.

On the other hand rtorrent isn't as aggressive as Deluge is and can't achive they incredible high upload speeds you can with Deluge, but it's known to consume less resources. You could use a mixture and run the torrents who are hot on Deluge and move them to rtorrent as soon as they 'have cooled' down. If you run HDD's it will still be a big problem, but a good combination.

I personally use rtorrent for torrents that have already a few other seeders, because it seems to perform better, but when a torrent is fresh Deluge seems to perform a lot better.

If you have troubles installing rtorrent I can help you, as well as many others in the help section on here.

I haven't seen utorrent or rtorrent freeze or have significant problems with about ~ 1,000 torrents. I've never done 1 TB/day, but have hit as 700 GB/day without issues and I doubt that I would see any at 1 TB. So you might want to look at your installation and configuration files as the problem could well lay there, rather than with the clients per se.

Deluge is said by many to be the most aggressive for downloads. I would say that utorrent manages uploads better. But I have to ask, do you really expect to approach a terabyte with any regularity?

Nope, i don't expect 1TB, it was just example, maybe peak, but 500GB is real. I don't know why utorrent freezes for me. It start using 2GB of ram (still there are more then 20 more GB free on server) and hangs, i tried different settings of cache as well as connections and even tried to cup RX and TX speed without help.

Does utorrent start to freeze when it reaches a certain speed or is it just random and without any activity?

The former would indicate, in the case you are running HDD's, that they can't keep up with the speeds. This is only relevant when the speeds are somewhat high, but may be an issue if you have a good home connection or you are running windows server.
What OS are you running, because utorrent for Linux is only in the Alpha version, which of course can easily have bugs.

If you need help feel free to PM me, but keep in mind that asking for an invite is not considered help.

My vote is for rtorrent. It is geared towards high-end torrenting. I have used it for roughly 3 years now. I've had up to 1500 torrents in it with no issues. I've had it even try to download 400 at once and not die. It's amazing.

I'm running windows and HDDs, but it freezes even if i set upload and download speed to 8000kBps max. I could try it on SSD, but i will not as this behavior is unacceptable and it would freez if ssd would be stressed. I think it should just stop and wait till it can write to disk or something like that, not hang and need to be killed and start again.

Have you ran some disk diags on this HDD in question to make sure you don't have some bad sectors lurking or something? I would try using another plattered hard drive & see if the issues persist. Just a wild guess though. It would take a lot to make uTorrent completely freeze unless you have other issues going on, I think.

The qBittorrent project aims to provide a Free Software alternative to µtorrent. Additionally, qBittorrent runs and provides the same features on all major platforms (Linux, Mac OS X, Windows, OS/2, FreeBSD).

qBittorrent is based on Qt4 toolkit and libtorrent-rasterbar.
As I understand, it's basically Libtorrent/rtorrent in a nice packaging.
