Thread: No SSH or Webmin HELP!!

This may be long, but I will tell you guys exactly what happened. I installed openVPN today, and it screwed up my box. (Most likely I screwed up something somehow.) Anyways, so first i decided to install it with

sudo apt-get install openvpn openssh-server openssl

from this guide: OpenVPN Tutorial | Hack Admin

I was having trouble with it, and decided to uninstall what I installed..

sudo apt-get remove openvpn openssh-server openssl

Then I decided to install it with this tut..lol

After that, SSH, was down, so I tried to turn it on with webmin, wasn't working, so I rebooted within webmin, and well...now webmin...no longer work. I am going to boot with OVH recover and see what I can do from there, but any advice would be well received.

Yeah....bail on that mess and start fresh with a new install.

I really want to do that, but i kinda downloaded 2 200gb torrents..lol...like last night..so, I will try to get it back first, then go to reinstall.

Anyways, I am in the drive on recovery mood. I have my drive mounted, and I am sitting at / . Now, how do I install sshd from here? or how do I see if its installed? same for webmin. I know I need to chroot, but being a super dooper n00b, it would be nice if someone was able to tell me more than that..:P

I'm guessing that when you rebooted webmin didn't automatically start...let me refresh myself real quick on the command to restart it

sudo /etc/webmin/start

I'm just guessing here as I don't know how the recovery mode works. I was thinking that you must have ssh access in order for the recovery mode to work, and that you're using an account that was setup during the OVH installation process. Hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong, as I likely am :D I'm a noob at this as well.

Is deluge up and going? If you end up not able to figure it out you could just wait till you fulfill your seedtime requirements and then start from scratch.

yah, but I have no webmin there...which I know is because I installed it with the rtorrent install from this tut:

try the following
sudo /etc/init.d/webmin restart
