    Default Picking the right trackers

    Good day to all!

I have been using torrents for about ten years now, but only recently discovered that so many private trackers exist. I've used Demonoid primarily, and only ever had membership at a couple private trackers. So, upon discovering that so many have cropped up over the years, I'm quite excited to dive right in.

I do want to plan carefully, however. I would not want to get caught up in a dozen or more trackers that I don't need or use. That being said, I've seen it suggested here on T-I that I should restrict myself to a couple good trackers for each of my needs.

Over the next few days, I intend to pour through some of the tracker reviews, but in the meantime, I would like to call upon the T-I community, if I may, for some good tracker suggestions for a humble 10% like myself. I seek trackers for high quality (v0 and LAME) music, HD movies and TV, and reputable game and app releases. The biggest factors which influence my decisions are torrent quantity, longevity, and organization/uniformity.

So, I've settled upon What and WAF for music. I've got my sights set on Goem as one of my first movie/TV trackers, but a second one, I am unsure of. As far as games and apps go, I'm completely in the dark on what sorts of trackers are available. I would also be interested in hearing about some of the e-learning trackers out there, as I do spend a good amount of time seeking published knowledge.

If anyone is willing to share, this newbie would love to hear some suggestions, comparisons, or general tracker discussion.

    Thanks!
    -nbob

I see that you have What.CD so you have all you need to cover your music needs. They have wonderful power user+ invite forum there. Try to reach the power user class (25 gb upload/4 weeks on the site/5 uploaded torrents). You can get invites to great trackers that are here hard to get. For movies PTP for TV BTN for games BG or BCG (only open registration/irc invites) and for e-learning bitme or bitspyder. For apps you can select any 0day/general tracker like SCC (best 0day selection also all free) or IPT. Now HD trackers there are many of them that have great internal uploading groups. CHD, HDC, TTG, HD-Torrents are just a few great HD trackers out there. You need to select for yourself what is best for you. It's always depends on what content you are looking for. You can say HD but there are FullHD 720p 1080p formats or old/new movies you really need to know specificly what kind of content you want to download and than you can look for the tracker that have the best selections of this torrents

    specialized,

Thanks for the tip about What's power user forum - I'll look into it.

When you say that SCC is all free, do you mean that some trackers reserve certain content for donors or members who have otherwise paid?

Also, I would expect to find on a good movie/TV tracker content that is of the highest native quality available, and also content that is only available in older/lower quality sources. I mostly enjoy movies and shows from the last few decades, but may sometimes be in the mood for more popular older programming.

For the sake of keeping it simple, I'm not looking for any sort of niche trackers yet. For now I can easily settle for trackers that offer general variety as opposed to rare and obscure content.

    Really appreciate the advice!

SCC MP3/0DDAY and Archive selections are freeleech (only count what you upload to the site not the download) they have also the "general" browse where are all other torrents that are not free (count download) but you can found apps in MP3/0DAY selection that is free that's what i want to say. Like i said PTP have the biggest selection of new and old movies in all qualities you can found many HD torrents and also dvds and dvdrips of the old movies. About TV trackers BTN have new and old content like you said it have general variety of content. I must say that What (music) PTP (movies) BTN (TV) are the best general trackers for this sections of torrents. Also want to say that IPT is the best all in one tracker if you don't want to complicate you select it in have all programs movies tv music torrents...

You can find anything in SCC . Only releasing rep. games with rep. crackers . And it has archive (its freeleech section) you can easily keep you acc. up with this . For music i prefer what.cd cause it has the biggest archive . I think its better than waffles . Choice is yours :)

I'm a huge fan of TL myself. It is a great tracker and has a very sleek design. It might be because of it's looks that I like it the most, however IPT is one of the best General Private trackers out there I agree.

For movies, also considerer P*N... Even within each category you can have tracker for your specific needs, for ex.: theDVDCLUB (untouched DVD's), Xbox-Sky (xbox games), imetal.play (heavy metal music)... fell free to contact me if you need any help!

I would try to contribute but I think specialized has it covered.

One thing I did that I'm glad of was joining a ton of trackers during their open enrollment period, even if I wasn't totally sure that I'd dig it. I let my accounts expire for those that I didn't like. I wouldn't have tried HD-Space, ACN, or HD-Torrents if it hadn't been for the open enrollments, and those are trackers that I'm really glad to have.

I personally much prefer IPT to TL, but I think that is mostly a personally taste type of thing. No need to have both IPT and TL though.

Thank you all for your thoughtful replies.

Since I intend to maintain specific trackers for specific needs, I think I will be shooting for an SCC invite over IPT or TL. Am I right in guessing (based on the login screen alone) that SCC has a similar interface to What? Also, I am a rather casual gamer, and don't play backup games on my consoles, so would it really be worth looking at game trackers if I do get into SCC?

As far as music goes, I've joined Waffles to complement What. It seems like most of Waffles' selection gets cross-seeded to What, but I have a feeling that I will enjoy my membership there nonetheless.

For movies, I still intend on choosing Goem as one of my trackers, mostly because I've partied with a guy who is friendly with Goem's founder. However, would anyone care to compare PTN and P*N? How about HD-Space and HD-Torrents?

And in terms of TV, it seems like BTN is the crowd favorite, but I do wonder, how long after air do episodes of shows generally surface? I can probably survive without a TV-specific tracker (props to Sidereel) unless I can find one with particularly rapid uploads.

Also, does anyone know if there are trackers out there who participate in a sales referral program like Amazon Associates? I notice that Waffles links back to Amazon, but collects no cut if I happen to buy something. I would be delighted to see a tracker which links to a completely legal site that they simply use to earn revenue from anything I might purchase.

    Thanks again, everyone!

What.cd uses the gazelle interface. It is markedly different from that seen at SCC or IPT.

I personally prefer to use the specialized trackers when possible. Meaning, for games I usually DL from BCG or BG, movies from PTP or PTN, TV from BTN or Freshon, and music from What or Waffles.

If I can't find what I'm looking for there, I'll check out the general trackers.

The reason for this is that the specialized trackers offer a better experience. The layout is designed around the material they are offering. The descriptions included in general tracker .torrents are laughably bad in comparison to the specialized trackers.

I also like to browse through the feed at the general release trackers to see if something new piques my interest.

Popular shows arrive at BTN pretty much directly after airing. This is the same for the popular tv trackers, for what I've seen.
