Thread: what is the best SFTP program

My friend advised me to use cuteFTP I have been using filezilla and ftprush for box to box transfers but is cuteFTP faster then filezilla? or is there another SFTP client I can use to get the fastest sppeds to download form a seedbox to my pc?
Thanks for any advice as I have always been a filezilla user mostly and want faster speeds.

Personally I find cuteftp faster than filezilla but I find filezilla useful as it has the file compare feature which I haven't found in cute. Good for certain files that are partially completed or only some of the files in a folder are complete

Winscp is the best due to its specialization in scp. Love the key based login feature.. has got seamless integration with putty and is quite lightweight..

CuteFTP is definitely faster than filezilla if you use the multi-part download feature in cuteFTP. A major advantage for me also is the ability to pause and resume file transfers which you obviously can do in filezilla but its not so simple. Winscp is another good bet as metashore said and has loads of features but it is slightly slower at downloading than cuteFTP. Its really down to preference in the end.

thank you I have tried all the mentioned for sftp and this was the fastest for me on a OVH based server

I'm not seeing any speed difference between filezilla and cuteftp anymore. I'm hitting 1.5MB/s for a single file using filezilla--does that mean it is auto setting up the multipart transfer? I had thought a single transfer was limited to like 350KB/s or something.

GUI wise, I much prefer Filezilla. I can't give an concrete reason for this preference, but something appeals to me more about the filezilla interface.

yupe.i will give a vote to cuteftp.because of the multipart download option which max out my speed.and btw filezilla doesnt have this option

The crackers in the scene have a heck of a time with CuteFTP.. In the past, the crack always seems to blow up after a few months -- I finally gave up on it & resorted back to FileZilla with FTPS. I really see no speed difference at all. Anything at this point would be nominal. Just be sure to start to allow it 3-4 downloads at the same time, it should max your connection out.

I was a big CuteFTP fan for probably almost a decade, I just finally gave up. I don't think they are as actively developing it anymore as they are with FileZilla, which is completely free.

Well CuteFTP is really faster then filazilla but I like FTPRush also... its nice and both of them have more good speed then FileZilla.....
