Bittorent Set Up
I am just looking for a way to set up my BitTorrent program. I have been using it for a couple of years but am curious as to whether or not I should change some things to be on the more safe side. Maybe another program that coincides with it? Any and all suggestions appreciated.
First BitTorrent is not very popular/allowed client on private trackers so it won't work on all private trackers. Private trackers test this clients and than they make a client whitelist. Most popular/used and almost the same as bitorrent is uTorrent. I recommend you to switch to uTorrent.
When using private trackers make sure that you have disabled DHT, peer exchange and local peer discovery. Private trackers don't use this options and if you have it enabled you might have problems like your tracker stats won't update properly. This are optimal settings for using private trackers. Should I use something other than BitTorrent or uTorrent?
uTorrent is the best and i have seen some trackers banning the latest 3.0 version so the best stable version right now is 2.2.1. You can download it here -> Download uTorrent 2.2.1 Build 25302 - FileHippo.com

yes this is the best way if you want to use it for private trackers.
after you set up that you can also run Options -> Setup Guide - Run tests
It will optimize settings according to your internet speed.

setting up your torrent client is as basic and as simple as it gets. the more hardcore freaks around the globe also know how to make torrents, how to cross-seed them, how to use a seedbox and use an auto-irssi setup...you just keep it simple, for now at least - utorrent for WIN!Originally Posted by Vortex005

If you want to be safe use only private trackers. Never again use public/open trackers and you will be good.
