download scene stuff from ratioless scene trackers and reseed them there

Downloading or cross seeding the top 10 torrents on any tracker is not going to help you, by the time they're in the top 10 they've been downloaded hundreds (thousands?) of times and have hundreds of seeders meaning you get next to nothing in the way of uploade credit for them. For cross seeding you're better off grabbing a few rars of popular TV shows, games and blockbuster movies elsewhere as soon as they are released and seeding those parts to TL.

I also don't agree with your seeding at home philosophy, you yourself said "Once you have a buffer", then it does make sense. At the moment the OP is trying to build a buffer which is where the extra speed of the seedbox comes in.

This has been the subject of many posts. But in short, TL isn't as easy to seed as say a similar site like IPT. But it is far from impossible. For the most part, only the newest torrents see heavy activity. And since TL has a waiting period if your ratio is low (as it would be for a new member).. you need to cross seed.

Find a torrent, perhaps a scene release on another tracker and seed that to TL while it is still fresh. And you will quickly get a positive ratio so that the waiting period doesn't apply to you anymore. Then concentrate on the freshest torrents in popular categories. You will build ratio this way. And once you have enough buffer, you can download whatever torrents you like, whether they are popular or not. But always a few of the freshest ones, just to build /maintain your buffer.

Though the top 10 torrents have been downloaded a number of times and they will be well seeded, they will always have higher snatches than other torrents in future also, so u will also get a chance to seed, though less.

more over for cross seeding popular tv torrents is a good idea, but for that the OP needs a good connection or a great seed box, because the time spend in downloading it from other torrent trackers and then cross seeding it by rechecking the torrents is very crucial, this alternative is subjected to some conditions. The time lost during these process is very crucial, till the time the OP is undergoing this process, most of the members will have downloaded the torrent and will be seeding from seed boxes.(More over TL is not a tracker where o day releases are released after some time, it is release instantaneously or simultaneously with other tracker)

yes i said "Once you have a buffer", but if the OP downloads any popular torrent (From top 10 list, from any other tracker) he can get a good ratio, though it will take some time because it would be well seeded as stated by us. but slow and steady wins the race.

    Any advice/ideas?

P.S. I seeded an old torrent on TL that I already had but even though I uploaded many gigs from my seedbox the stats on TL didn't update and it shows I have only uploaded 15-20 MB or something. Anyone had similar problems?
In my opinion, TL is not that kind of tracker, also not a "Once you have a buffer" tracker. It's better to seed from your bad home connection non-stop rather than a seedbox if you intend to rent it for a couple of months just to boost your ratio. Boosting in TL won't work. TL is just not that kind of tracker where you should think "I will rent a seedbox", because torrents there are well seeded, therefore it doesn't matter how fast is your seedbox unless you can use it for a year. It's a "You use it fully or you don't use it completely" tracker.

tbh I kind of gave up on torrentleech; at least I got there with open signup and didn't waste an invite...
no tricks there, you don't get points, freeleech or anything.
the problem is if you buffer with a seedbox you'll have to re-buffer quite often so unless you have a seedbox full time it isn't great.
on paper they have faster speed; but on recent torrent I max out with iptorrents anyway, you probably need 50Mbps or sth to feel the difference?
and on older torrents, while they'll have better speeds than say iptorrent, they don't have many leechers on those so you'll run in a ratio issue; plus you can use specialized trackers to find the same older torrents well seeded and without the ratio problems.
on top of that their hit-and-run policy is 60hours of seeding if you can't reach 1:1 ratio; that's more than even a lot of ratioless trackers.

cliffnotes: great tracker if you have a FAST connexion, but it's not irreplaceable or absolute must have or anything.

False. The requirements are ratio of 0.4 and if you fail to do it only then you need to seed that individual torrent for 60 hours.
