Default Looking for renaming program that keeps the release group

I am looking for a renaming program that can rename my movies and has the ability to keep the release group in the filename. I searched everywhere but so far i haven't found any programs that can do what i want.

I prefer that the program connects to imdb since they have the biggest database of movies.
The year and the quality has to be in the filename as well, for example i prefer that my files are named like this: Cars 2 (2011) 720p METiS
The file has to be placed in a separate folder for every movie. I want those named like this: Cars 2 (2011)
I prefer that all extra files like samples, covers or trailers are deleted.
Also the ability to rename tv shows would be nice to have, but its not a requirement since i already have a good program for that.

A free program would be nice, but if there are none of those available that can do what i want than i am willing to pay a small price.

Does anyone know a renaming program like that?

I do not know of a program that does that but if all of your movies are scene releases or follow some standard, I'm pretty sure it would be pretty easy to write a short script with regular expressions in python or something to do what you want. i personally havent used regex in a while, but I'm pretty sure there are some pretty good coders in this community who could help you out. just my thoughts

    Hi,

Alright, there are so many ways you can do that, I'll just point you what I think it's the more elegant -and easier- solution. Get File Renamer Turbo. It's a piece of software that lets you rename files in batches using more or less complex patterns at your discretion.
It integrates into the windows shell, so all you have to do is selecting the files you need to work on and learn how to build out the set of rules to get to shape the file names at your liking. To start off look into the "Add Basic Filers" option the rules "Find&Replace", "Insert" and "Trim".

With this program File renamer turbo, do i need to add every release group from witch i ever downloaded manually? Because that is probably something in the hundreds. Also i don't see any support for movies. Some of my movies are not named correctly and cannot be recognized by my mediaplayer xbmc. I would very much like to rename them to the correct name so everything i have can be played in xbmc.

Any file renamer you use will have to go by the current file name. I'm pretty sure no app exists that can figure out what the release group was etc if it isn't part of the current file name. So for those you will have to figure it out yourself. I do use Advanced Renamer to rename files etc, i haven't used File Renamer Turbo, but i'm assuming they're pretty similar, but I can say Advanced Renamer is pretty cool, and its free.

When i download new movies most, if not all of them have the release group in the file name. Basically every bit of information that i want is in the file name already, but some times its formatted in such a way that XBMC cannot read them.

What is the formatting that XBMC can't read? Could you give an example of filenames it can and can't read? I've never used it myself.

Ok, for example: Legend.of.the.Millennium.Dragon.2011.BluRay.1080p. x264.DTS.MySilu.mkv is something my XBMC mediaplayer cannot read. I think its because of the dots, i think XBMC sees this as one big file name instead of Legend of the Millennium Dragon (2011) what it is suppose to be.

I have set my scraper in XBMC to themoviedb so i can use the website trakt. So i think its themoviedb who cannot read the file in the original name.

Well it would be really easy with any renaming program to replace periods with spaces. That's pretty much one of the default functions of all of them.

I know. I am already using therenamer for that. It works really great, but it doesn't have the feature with the release groups that i want.
