Since nothing is really working out I'm gonna have to cr8 a backup on an external hard drive and format my PC so I have a couple of questions:

    1) Is there a way to back up your things other than just making a copy of them on the hard drive like something from the system to backup everything on something external if there is then plz tell me how to do it

    2) I want to know the best and safest way to format my system and re-install windows later

Use DBAN to completely wipe your hard drive - perform 2-3 runs, to make sure everything is gone. Then, grab your Windows 7 install disc and put it in a disc drive.
Following the Windows 7 install, start downloading all your graphic/internet drivers.
Then, a helpful program (Ninite.com can install multiple programs at once, really easily (highly recommended).

Don't forget to back up your useful information, media, and possibly bookmarks/emails.

hi guys, well i have always thought in the past that windows 7 has been a little buggy, i normally format often, just boot from install disk, click install, then click custom install pick disk to install windows on click format which will erase everything on that disk and continue install, scine i have been overclocking i get bsod all the time and sometimes i am sure it is windows and not my OC! it probably would be a good idea to check you have the latest bios version updated and installed and
configuration settings are good! google will help with anything you are not sure about.
good luck and i hope this helps

Honestly i probably wouldn't recommend flashing your bios if everything was working fine prior to a windows update. If you don't know what your doing its easy to mess up and in many cases can render your pc useless.

If this pc is for your personal use i probably wouldn't worry about completely wiping your drive using dban. Do however make sure you backup your personal files(like pictures or anything you've created, anything else that can't be easily replaced. Aside from that i'd just follow what graphic said and use the custom install and format your drive that way.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

    *edit*
if you can get a good backup program(i've used norton ghost a lot in the past) its a really good idea to make a backup after you complete the windows install before doing anything else. if you have another hard drive you can do a straight disc to disc clone, or even create a backup disc set, that you can restore from. Something simple like this can help save headaches in the future.
